difference between night vision device and thermographic camera.

night vision device is “active” in the sense that has an infrared light source, and a sensor that captures the reflection of the light.

thermographic camera is a “passive” device, it only captures the temperature.

thermographic camera cannot “see” objects with temperature close to the temperature of the air, or the objects behind the glass, because the glass can screen the thermal radiation. the night vision device cannot see objects in the haze, also warm and cold objects are hard to distinguish.
