It looks like Russia forces us to buy two Su-30 military air-planes. Probably it will cost us ~60.000.000 of dollars. I don’t quite get why do we need these planes.
There is a publication on Russian military blog, that there was some event a couple of days ago, during which “we asked” them to sell us these air-planes.
You probably are not aware, that we always “ask them”. And then they generously agree.
A couple of years ago we suddenly decided to “ask” them to support us in joining their union, which obviously they needed more for some reason, and which brings more problems to us, including, but not limited to the rise of prices, and no tangible benefit. Except if it can count as the benefit that Russia does not lead, or kindle war right now here. Yet.
Back to the theme. Armenia long ago decided to not develop it’s military aviation. It’s too expensive and not reasonable. Buying two Su-30’s sounds like nonsense to me.
These are heavy air-planes, that are able to carry a lot of weight to the very long distances, like a couple of thousands kilometres. What are we going to do with them? Attack ISIS? No seriously.
They are also completely useless, by taking in to consideration that Azerbaidjan successfully manages to block Stepanakert airport with it’s S-300 sets. What is the use of Su-30 in these circumstances?
Even if we would need a fighter jet, MIGs would fit more - they are lighter, more manoeuvrable and suitable for use on short distances.
$60.000.000 could be used to protect our near border villages and towns from the constant fire they get. There are many ways this money could be used instead.
