By the way, I like that Sergey Khachatrian tends also to play Armenian composers. Nobody remembered Baghdasarian, but he played him. He also plays Komitas, Babajanian, of course Khachatrian. It’s interesting, that he says, Aram Khachatrian is not very welcomed in the west, probably because he’s considered a Soviet composer. He says, I explain to them, why they should not see him not only as Soviet, but as an Armenian composer as well. Not because he used some Armenian folk themes, but because those obviously Armenian works he created, he didn’t use any existing melodies, that was coming from inside, because it was in his his soul, essence.
