- first of all, of course we spot armenians immediately, kasparian is գասպարեան։
- secondly, her points like “facebook vs face to face’ are barely tolerable. i would criticize facebook for many things, but not for being an online social platform.
- hasan seems to be much more clever, and spots more important problems.
- i can relate to what the piratebay founder expressed: indeed there is a problem, that most of the people are not conscious/strong enough to leave facebook for political reasons. when you have a gratification and good feelings anchored to something, you won’t leave it even if you know you have to vote by that, but your limbic system will dictate the opposite - conformism.
- young turks is a very ironical name, though they have an explanation from the dictionary stating that young turk is a ‘person who rebels against authority or societal expectations’, the real young turks (political party) were supported by most progressive powers in the ottoman empire, including armenian intellectuals, and that was a force which commited the genocide of armenians and greeks. and that’s a reason why ana kasparian lives in united states, most probably, because her ancestors were genocide survivors.
