Igor Mukhin has a photo album called ‘born in ussr’. this is interesting, because we here, in armenia, do not consider us to be born in the country which now does not exist. we never identified with it. i never did. my parents never did. i could only hear jokes and irony about the regime, when it wasn’t too cruel to be funny. we were living in armenia, and now we live in armenia, which is more part of the world than back then. which is good, because we want to be a part of the world.
