i’ve been asked if we can downgrade diaspora* software to the previous version, because this version, since the update works slower.

and i rememdered thoughts i had about downgrades. downgrades are difficult, or often impossible.

downgrade from land to ocean? only a couple of species made it, though life on earth was more hard and painful.

downgrade from agricultural revolution state to hunters-gatherers state: in ‘agricultural’ world people had to work more, and had much more difficult lives. but the downgrade was hardly possible. then industrial revolution. humiliated workers in the early days. no way to go back to the previous state.

it’s not possible to downgrade Debian from Jessie, to let’s say, Woody. or Sarge, or even Wheezy. It’s not possible to downgrade from Win10 to Win7 or XP.

it’s also not feasible to downgrade from good relationship to a good friendship. well, of course it depends on many factors, but still:

downgrades are painful, and not feasible.
