This is the Dungeon Master/Chaos Strikes Back editor from ST Format magazine, #55, February 1994. It is a rewrite of an older program. Run it in LOW REZ! Also, make a backup of your saved game first! And print out the docs if you want to make any sense of the thing... One important aspect of this program is that it changes current save games only. Since the newer version of DM (1.2) and probably also Chaos Strikes Back use a checksum on their files of 2 bytes and this program cannot update that checksum, these edited games cannot be played on the newer versions of DM!!! DM and CSB (and the CSB editor) refuse to accept these save game files! However, since the early versions of DM used the non-checksum savegame files (47914 bytes long) and since these are compatible with the new DM, perhaps it is possible to use these edited games after all! If you strip off the checksum bytes, it just may work! I haven't tried this, though... If anyone figures out how to use edited games on the new version of DM, please post about it to comp.sys.atari.st! We'd all like to know! .s.
