02/25/93 This is a hack of Version 2.0 of the MPEG decoder from the Berkeley Plateau Research Group. (Please read their README.) Basically, I replaced all the X-Windows stuff with NeXTstep windows and discarded all of the dithering stuff. Don't need it since the NeXT is true color. This version is specifically optimized for a 16bit color NeXTstation. I did have to sacrifice some image quality to get the speed up. The window will be displayed at (512, 512). Please move your shell window somewhere else. The address of the window content view is cacheline aligned so moving the display window may cause performance to drop. The performance on a 120x160 pixel is from 7-8 frames/second on a NeXTstation Turbo. To install just type: make all To run just type: mpeg_play flight.mpg To get other MPEG movies please read the notes from the Berkeley Plateau Research Group.
