************************************ * ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! * * You MUST read this otherwise * * your monitor could be destroyed! * ************************************ BlowUP030 Demoversion This demo may be copied and passed to others for free as long as all the files, espacially this README remainunchanged! BlowUP030 (c) Georg Acher & Michael Eberl ========================================= Warning: -------- IF YOU HAVE A FIXED-FREQUENCIE MONITOR (E.G. A VGA OR SVGA) NEVER SELECT THE 'MS1/2' BUTTON IN BLOWCONF.PRG!!!!! ONLY IF YOU LEAVE THIS BUTTON UN-SELECTED IT IS ENSURED THAT YOUR MONITOR WON'T GET HORIZONTAL-FREQUENCIES THAT MIGHT DAMAGE IT! Short-Manual for the BlowUP030-Demo: ------------------------------------ Run BLOWCONF.PRG (the demo runs only in 16 colors and with the ATARI-VGA- adapter installed) and choose the monitor-type you are using: VGA: fixed frequencies of 31.5kHz/60Hz SVGA: fixed frequencies of 31.5/35.5kHz /60Hz MS1/2: multiscans, e.g. 15-38kHz/30-55kHz at 50-100Hz Only with a multiscan you are able to configure your resulution live, because they are able to display all values in a certain range. For VGA/SVGA this might be very dangerous. * * All chnges can be returned to their * original value with UNDO (or the * return-key) * LOAD CONF: displays a list of predefined resolutins. In this list you find the monitor-type it is suitable for. Select one and confirm with OK to install the resolution. SAVE: The resolution that is configured at the moment is saved into the 'BLOWBOOT.PRG' file in the AUTO-folder of your boot-device (usually C:). * ATTENTION: * ---------- * BLOWBOOT.PRG has to be the last * programm in the AUTO-folder * (especially behind MultiTOS and * NVDI). Select unsorted in the * DESKTOP-menu to be sure After the next RESET the new resolution will be used if you boot in 16 colors. If you do not, use the DESKTOP-menu to switch to 16 colors. The special ability of the BlowUP030-system is that you are able to configure the video-parameters very free. Vertical and horizontal Screen-position, left, right, upper and lower margin, interlace-mode and pixel-clock might be set freely (in certain margins given by the Falcon-hardware) TO TAKE OUT THE BEST OF YOUR MONITOR. If you have a multiscan and selected then MS1/2-mode you are able to find the maximum - step-by-step. With BLOWCONF you are able to install two resolutions for every color-depth. BLOWACC enables you to select which one or even if one of the new resolutions is used. The SCREEN-SAVER is the newest feauture of BlowUP030: If it is active it speeds up the Falcon at up to 70% (depending on the Color-mode and resolution). There is an option to start screen- saving (and ACCELERATION) immediately by moving the mous to the left border and stopping there (takes about 1-2 seconds). Attention: The saver is not compatible with very hardware-depending programms like TEMPELMON that need V-blanks or use interrup 6. LIMITATIONS OF THE demo-version against the sold-versions (SV) --------------------------------------- - only works in 16 colors (SV: 2,4,16,256 & TC) - SV runs on SM124-monitors too - fewer standard-configurations than in the SV - left & right margin changeable only in steps of 10 (SV: 2) - upper & lower margin changeable only in steps of 5 (SV: 1) (you might not get that high resolutions out of your monitor as with the SV bacause of this) - Virtual-screen only up to 768*768 (not limited by the SV) - Pixel-clock only 25 & 32 (SV with hardware up to 50MHz) - SV has a 30-page manual with "Tips & Tricks incluced" (ST-Magazin 8/93) And now the prices for the full feautured BlowUP030: Soft-only: 29DM Hard-1: 99DM (for multiscans) Hard-2: 129DM (more flexible to be used on unflexible monitors like VGA/ SVGA or SM124) These are prices for within Germany (+p&p). Ask for prices outside Germany. Upgrade from Soft-only to a hardware-version is possible. For multiscans Hard-1 can take out the best of your Falcon - other companies might call those 50MHz 'pro' - for us its standard. Only with VGA and SM124- monitors where certain frequencies have to be kept you will need Hard-2. Here some exampels for possible resolutions: ============================================ 640*480, 2-16 colors, 110-124Hz n.i. 880*608, 2-16 colors, 69-76Hz n.i. 1024*768,2-16colors, 100-104Hz i 1280*960,2-16 colors, 67-69Hz i 640*480, 256 colors, 76-80Hz n.i. 880*608, 256 colors, 48-50Hz n.i. 880*608, 256 colors, 94-100Hz i 1024*768,256 colors, 65-67Hz i (at 27kHz hor.-frequencie) 480*480, TC , 57Hz n.i.
