AMail - Set Up Help ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The setup screen has 5 options: A - Switch personal index on/off B - Select the archiver C - Switch archive compression on/off D - Set line length E - Include your own messages F - Maximum Messages G - New Files I - Bulletins J - Batch Pack K - Default Protocol L - Oldest Message Date Option A enables or disables the creation of PERSONAL.IDX, which is used by some mailers to display your own messages. Option B allows you to choose the archiving method you wish to use (ARC, LZH or ZIP) Option C allows you to tell AMail not to let the archivers pack anything, but just to let them store the mail in an archive. (ie, uncompressed store for use with fast modems, when you don't care if it takes 30 seconds to download 100K!) Option D allows you to set the maximum line length that a message will occupy. This may have the side effect of reformatting messages from the original. It is useful for those readers which don't scroll the screen sideways. Option E specifies whether you wish to include your own messages. (ie, those you uploaded last time) Option F allows you to specify the maximum number of messages in one packet. Option G allows you specify whether you want to receive a list of new files Option I allows you specify whether you want bulletins Option J (if displayed) allows you to have your mail packed overnight, and to pick it up when you feel like it. This means that all the hard work is done overnight, and free to you. Option K lets you set a default protocol that will always be used. If this is set, it will bypass the protocol selection bit. Option L lets you set the oldest message date that is going to be packed.
