Installation Colonial Conquest has been written to run from disk, as not everybody owns a harddisk and those who own one have more important stuff to put on it than a game like this. As there is only a very limited disk access during gameplay, this shouldn't be too much of a disadvantage. Colonial Conquest has been sent to PD series as an autoboot disk (that doesn't load in the Workbench) which saves important memory for all A500/500 kB owners (though I could never test if the program runs on machines with only 500 kB. In theory it should.) The program needs two libraries in the "libs:" directory: - diskfont.library - mathtrans.library If they are not on the disk anymore (it may have been necessary to remove them for copyright-reasons), please copy them from your "Workbench:libs/" to the drawer "ColonialConquest:libs/". INSTALLATION ON HARDDISK For all of you who think that 20 seconds of loading time is intolerable, there is the possibility to install ColonialConquest on your harddisk: - Make a directory called "ColonialConquest" somewhere on your HD. (Let's say it is in "Work:Games/ColonialConquest") - Copy the whole content of the ColonialConquest-disk into it. - Make an assignment in your startup-sequence or user-startup like this: "assign ColonialConquest: Work:Games/ColonialConquest" - Copy the whole content of the drawer "ColonialConquest:fonts/" to your "fonts:" directory. (In fact, there is only one 6 point font called "game" there!) - Make sure you have the "mathtrans.library" and the "diskfont.library" in your "Workbench:libs/" drawer. - You now can delete all unnecessary drawers from your ColonialConquest drawer: "fonts:", "s:", "devs:","c:","libs:" That's it! (At least I hope so, as I have never done it like this!)
