M A S H - T H E P O T A T O BY G R A H A M S T E P H E N S O N ©1992 Graham Stephenson Release Date: 7-8-92 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= INTRODUCTION: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Back in the good old days of the Commodore 64, I had a game called Eggburt in which you had to prevent an egg from smashing whilst you hit buttons that appeared on the side of the screen. I had never seen this game or a game like it on the Amiga, so I decided to write one. I did, and Mash - The Potato is the result. The game was coded entirely using Amos Basic and the graphics were drawn using Deluxe Paint III. The samples were grabbed using the Master Sound Sampler, and the music was taken from the PD disk "Spacewriter". LOADING: ~~~~~~~~ It can be loaded in either of three ways: by putting it in at the Workbench prompt, or by loading it from the Workbench or CLI. PLAYING: ~~~~~~~~ The game will load onto the title screen. From here, just press fire to start. The idea of the game is simple: press the red button on the side of the screen whilst trying to prevent the bomb from either passing over the yellow lines or from hitting the screen boundaries. To keep hold of the bomb, keep pressing fire. The game starts off easy, but then it begins to get more difficult as the buttons move and the playing area becomes restricted. WINNING: ~~~~~~~~ You have won the game when you defeat the guardian. When the guardian blows off its six limbs, it isn't dead. What can that bomb be used for...?! COMPILATIONS: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If anyone should wish to use Mash in one of their compilations, I will tell you that it needs the Diskfont.Library to be in the Libs directory of the boot disk. Without this, the game will not load. You can write to me at: Graham Stephenson 10 Lonsdale Street Workington Cumbria CA14 2YD England PS: I am looking for contacts to swap PD/own productions with.
