For more details, see the end of this file. * ***************************************************************************** Crazy Pipes An Amiga Game By Joe Rumsey Crazy Pipes is a game of action and strategy, in which you must lay down a pipeline to keep the water supply from spilling over. The mouse is used to position and place each section of pipe on the board. The playing field is 11 by 7 squares, and one section of pipe may placed in each square. At the left of the board is a "stack" of pieces showing the next four sections which must be placed. The piece on the bottom is the next piece to be placed. When the mouse is clicked on a square, that piece will be placed there, and the rest of the stack will scroll down to take its place. At the beginning of each level, a blue bar appears to the left of the board. This bar shows the amount of time remaining before the water begins to flow. When this bar reaches the bottom, the water will flow from the piece on the board marked with an "S" into the piece connected to it(which you have hopefully placed there). This will continue until the water reaches an empty square, a pipe with no ends connecting, or a pit. For every piece that the water flows into, the number shown in "Count:" at the top of the screen will decrease by one. If this number has reached zero by the end of the level, you will be advanced to the next harder level. Normally the water will spill if a piece of pipe ends at the edge of the board. However, if there is a hole in the edge(a black space), the water will "wrap around" to the opposite edge instead. The water wll only flow through each section of pipe once, with the exception of intersections. Water may flow through an intersection twice, once horizontally and once vertically. If an intersection is used twice, 300 points will be added to your score. Flowing through any other section of pipe will score 100 points. A section of pipe may be laid over an existing section, as long as the water has not yet flown into it, but this will decrease your score by 50 points. At the end of each level, any sections of pipe which have not been used will cost you 100 points. On each level, a number of pits are placed randomly around the board. These cannot be removed, and the water wll spill if a pipe connects to one of them. Technical Stuff: This game includes a number of sampled sounds, which must ALL be present in a directory named "sounds" for Crazy Pipes to use sound at all. These are the required files: clang exp loop over melt In addition, Crazy Pipes will play music if the following files are present in the sounds directory: music music2 In the intrest of saving bytes, I have put these two files in a separate zip file, since they are fairly large. It does not hurt to leave them out, as the other sounds will still work. These two files are just a pair of samples. "Music" is played in a loop until the end of the game, and then "music2" is played once. the "sounds" directory must be in the same directory as Crazy Pipes itself. Other files required to be in the same directory are: pipe.hlp for the online help screen pipe.hs high score table pipe.title title screen to clear the high score table just delete "pipe.hs". What to do if you like this game: I have put a lot of effort into writing this game. When I started out, it was mainly as an excercize in programming. However, it has grown into a real game. Enough so that I feel justified in asking for a contribution of $10 from anyone who plays this game and likes it. Considering the price of commercial games, I think this is reasonable.
