READTHIS.NOW ------------ Updates to Documentation: Version 5.00 to 5.0d Version 5.00, Released October 16, 1992 Version 5.0a, Released January 26, 1992 Version 5.0b, Unreleased except as requested (feature enhancement) Version 5.0c, Released January 1, 1994 Version 5.0d, Released January 25, 1994 for the Advantage+ ASP CD Project --MAJOR CHANGE: No longer is there an annoy screen on the ShareWare version. Please be honest and register the product if you use it! -- NEW FEATURES: 1. ALT+F4 and CTRL+X can now be used as a substitute for ESC from the main menu to exit the system. (By your popular request) 2. CTRL+B forces the screen blanker ON for you from the main menu 3. If the environment variables are controlling security, the password/name combination will not be required for re-entry from the screen blanker 4. {%Var%} can now be used in !HelpLines and %Titles/>Titles anywhere The $Main Title will also accept {Vars} as well. Make them either the {%EnvVar%} or {#EnvVar#} type. 5. Undocumented in 5.0: {%Var%} *CAN* be used in a menu title. However, take care that using it does not create a NUL title. That is, embed the varaible in another string inside the title. 6. Help screens can be defined for rolloff submenu items now... you still cannot use them on INPUTBOX items, however. 7. *NEW* for LAN users: If the menu definition has been changed since the user last loaded it, the NEW definition will be loaded prior to a menu item being executed. This means that you can now change a menu while users are on the system. (Done for 24 hour users) BUG FIXES: 1. Hercules logo display problem corrected. Instead of the workaround using PCNF [Enter] and setting the display of .PCX logo to OFF, the system will turn it off automatically. 2. Rolloff submenus had some serious problems if the use of help lines (! Help Line) was inconsistent in a submenu. This has been corrected. 3. Rolloff submenus using numeric hotkeys crashed the program in rare instances. This has been corrected. 4. LOADFILE ... /B with single files works properly now. In 5.00, it failed to strip the path from the filename if you used it on a single file.... for multiple file dialogs, it always worked. 5. Focus problems with HELPBOX eliminated (cursor was not in the correct position) 6. Multiple ALT+O hotkeys in configuration systems/options #1 dialog cleared up. 7. MAJOR FIX: Timed events now work with the screen blanker turned on. All users that experienced this problem have been sent FREE updates in accordance with our bug-fix policy. Apologies, as always, for the little mistakes. The code looks very very clean at this point. We don't expect another update will be needed. 8. Timed event errors corrected, along with unusual circumstances that would cause timed events to NEVER execute. 9. The crossloading of a menu definition file with NO pathing in use used to cause a problem in indexing the menu definition if it needed to be done. This was corrected in 5.0d Errors in the Documentation --------------------------- 1. It is not mentioned clearly in the documentation that the use of the commands RESETPC, @MenuFile, and ABORT all cause the batch contents defined NOT to be executed. Sorry for the omission... Also, the example for RESETPC is clearly incorrect. 2. If you have a Hercules monochrome system, you will be unable to display a graphics logo at all. Known Problem: -------------- 1. Use of CANCEL in conjunction with PULLDFT being set will not work as documented. We will correct this in 5.1... since nobody seems to be utilizing this feature to date.
