Installation of Financial Freedom (R) Windows Money Management Software Section A: Installing from the self-extracting file. --------- (File: FFREEDOM.EXE) Section B: BBS and disk vendors; making installable --------- disks from the CD-ROM, in 360K format. (Files: FFREEDOA.EXE and FFREEDOB.EXE) NOTE: This program requires installation to a hard-drive and cannot be ran directly from a CD-ROM or disk. It can be installed from a CD-ROM or disk, but cannot RUN from the CD-ROM or disk as supplied. The supplied files are in compressed format and must be uncompressed using the installation program. Microsoft Windows version 3.0 or higher is also required. Section A: Installing from the self-extracting file. ------------------------------------------------------- The file FFREEDOM.EXE is a self-extracting, installation program, which requires Microsoft Windows (TM). It may be installed from a floppy disk, CD-ROM or hard drive. The program will prompt you for the installation drive and the directory name you wish to install the files to. Once the files have been installed, a program group called "Financial Freedom" will be created and the icons required to use the program will be placed there. You may move the icons to a different program group using Windows, if you so desire. If Windows is running, simply pull down the FILE menu and select the run option. Then enter A:FFREEDOM and select OK. If Windows is not running, simply enter A:FFREEDOM at the DOS prompt and Windows will be started and the installation will then begin. NOTE: The example above assumes you will be installing from your A: drive. If you are installing from another drive, you would enter the command as B:FFREEDOM, C:FFREEDOM, etc. The Users Manual will be included as a program icon during the installation process. If you wish to have a hard-copy manual, simply print out the document, otherwise, you can review the online manual in it's supplied Windows Write format. We have designed Financial Freedom to be EASY TO USE! With the online help features, you may never need to look at the manual. If you are tired of complicated programs, you will want to take a serious look at Financial Freedom! Section B: Making installable disks from the CD-ROM -------------------------------------------------------- BBS and disk vendors have two options of distributing Financial Freedom. You may distribute the self-extracting file mentioned above, (FFREEDOM.EXE), or make a double-disk set in 360K format as outlined below. Feel free to use one or both methods to suit your particular distribution requirements. To make a double disk set, have in your hand, two (2) empty disks which have been formatted in 360K format. We have selected a 360K format, as this is the most popular for disk vendors. (NOTE: there is nothing wrong with copying the FFREEDOM.EXE to a 720K or higher disk format if you prefer that distribution media.) Next, unpack the file FFREEDOA.EXE, (a self-extracting executable file), and copy the unpacked files to disk#1, then unpack file FFREEDOB.EXE and copy those files to disk#2 and thats it! You now have a double-disk set suitable for distribution and installable by the INSTALL.EXE program found on disk#1. Disk#1 will now contain two files, INSTALL.EXE and FFWIN.001. Disk#2 will also contain two files, FFWIN.002 and FFREEDOM.DIZ. The FFREEDOM.DIZ file contains a quick summary of Financial Freedom's program features.
