Press F7, PgUP or ESC to return to the Main Menu. \~ \~ \~ \`SCREEN4 \|Botton Banner \~ \`SCREEN5 \|PHONE PREFIX / DIAL OUT HEADER \~ \~You can enter ADD/DELETE, ALLOW/NOT ALLOW phone prefix's \~ \~Dial Out Header field should be left empty if your system expects to dial straight out when connecting with remote services. If you system has call waiting then place a '*70' in the Dial Out Header field. If your system requires a '9' to get an outside dial tone then place a '9' here in this field. If your system does require a '9' to get an outside dial tone and you support credit card processing, then you will also have to change the phone number sequence in the MAPP setup screen. You can do that by selecting option '6' (MAPP SYSTEM) from the main system menu and entering a '9' in front of the 800 number. It will not look pretty, but it will work. \~ \`SCREEN6 \|Fonelistw \~ \`SCREEN7 \|VIDEO MODE WINDOW \~ \~You can ADD/DELETE, ALLOW/NOT-ALLOW video emulation modes. \~ \`SCREEN8 \|Videolistw \~ \`SCREEN9 \|SETUP OPTIONS WINDOW \~ \~Set defaults for Printer (Main -Default- System Printer for Reports and Receipt Printer, if available), Maximum Baud Rate, System Payment Preference and Address Verification Codes acceptance options. \~ \`SCREEN10 \|Progress screen (progscrnw) \~ \`SCREEN11 \|Returnw \~ \`LOCNAME \|Location Name\~ \~ \~The LOCATION NAME entered here will show up on most of the working screens throughout this system just as you type it here in this field. \~ \~So.. pick an appropriate name, with appropriate capitalization. \~ \`SYSOP\~ \|SYSTEM OPERATOR (SYSOP) \~ \~This should be the name of the person to call when the patron has questions! \~ \`PASSWORD\~ \|SYSOP PASSWORD \~ \~This will be used to prevent unauthorized access to the system prompt. As long as the programs you install do not allow the patron to exit to a new shell or any access to the system, then only the SYStem OPerator (SYSOP) will have access to the system prompt and thus the hard disk. \~ \~The patron cannot at anytime get access to the system prompt while using PUBLIC ACCESS's PATRON MODE, PCPLUS(r) or PRODIGY(r) communications. \~ \~The password should be simple enough to remember, but not to simple as to make it easy to guess. \~ \~Note A: The password will be asked for in two places... \~1) When trying to leave PATRON MODE and return to the system module. \~ \~2) When using PATRON MODE to demo a program. You type the system password in the patron's first or last name field. The system will determine that you are running the system in DEMO mode and will not charge for the session. \~ \~Note B: Access to the system prompt is totally controlled when the system is running in conjunction with just PROCOMM PLUS (PCPLUS). Other programs will sometimes allow access to the system prompt through back doors that allow an exit to a new DOS shell. Some of these programs can be configured to prohibit exiting to a new shell. It is the Sysop's responsibility to control what programs are supported and launchable from PUBLIC ACCESS and to configure these where possible to control access to the system prompt. If the sysop wants to offer programs that do allow access to the system prompt, then it is strongly suggested that you keep full system backup off to the side just in case the patron causes a system crash by some means. \~ \`DATAPATH \|DATA FILES PATH\~ \~ This is the Drive and Path where you want to place the data files (files ending in .DAT or .IDX).\~ \~ \`PROGPATH \|PROGRAM FILES PATH\~ \~ \~This is the Drive and Path where the system will look for all of its system program files and the SETUP.DAT file. \~ \`VISA \|VISA Charges Accepted (Yes or No)!\~ \~ \`FAPPMINCHG \|*** SYSTEM DEFAULT *** \~ \|PER MINUTE CHARGE RATE FOR APPLICATIONS \~ \~Enter the amount here that you want to use as a general rule on all APPLICATIONS. This rate is the suggested rate whenever you add a new ONLINE COMMUNICATION Service to the system. You may then modify the individual Service's per session rate at that time. \~ \~Rates in the $.50 to $2.00 per session range might work. \~ \~ \`AMEX \|AMERICAN EXPRESS Charges Accepted (Yes or No)!\~ \~ \~ \`EVENTCHG \|EVENT CHARGE\~ \~ \~This is a flat overall minimum charge for just using the system, and is initiated the first time any chargeable session is selected and the time threshold is passed. This amount is activiated and assessed once the minimum time limit is exceeded during the use of a chargeable session. Conceivably, if someone sits down and picks a service and could not logon (the service was busy) and they quit and left there could be no charge at all. Also the system could be configured to have several free APPLICATIONS or COMMUNICATION SERVICES and the patron could use these for an hour or two and leave with no charge. \~ \~An Event Charge of $0.50 to $3.00 might be tried. \~The system can support event charges from $0.00 to $9.99\~ \~ \`DISCOVER \|DISCOVER CARD Charges Accepted (Yes or No)!\~ \~ \`PAGECHG \|*** SYSTEM DEFAULT *** \~ \|PER PAGE PRINTING CHARGE \~ \~Enter the amount you want to charge for each printed page. This amount can then be modified on each individual application. This amount only is applicable to applications as printing is not featured in the communication module. \~ \~ \`DINERS \|DINERS CLUB Charges Accepted (Yes or No)!\~ \~ \`AMINTIME \|APPLICATION MINIMUM USE FOR BILLING \~\|[M ] (M=Minutes) \~ \~Enter the time in minutes here beyond which the billing clock starts on APPLICATION use. It is understandable that customers will frequently run a program and then for any number of reason change their minds and decide to quit without getting any work done. So enter a number here where you think it is a good idea to start the billing clock. \~ \~Suggest setting this at 5 minutes. \~ \~ \`CMINTIME \|ONLINE COMMUNICATION MINIMUM USE FOR BILLING \~\|[M ] (M=Minutes) \~ \~Enter the time in minutes here beyond which the billing clock starts on COMMUNICATION use. It is understandable that customers will frequently run a program and then for any number of reason change their minds and decide to quit without getting any work done. So enter a number here where you think it is a good idea to start the billing clock. \~ \~Suggest setting this at 5 minutes. \~ \~ \`CARTEBLANC \|CARTE BLANCHE Charges Accepted (Yes or No)! \~ \~ \`LDSCHGRATE \|*** SYSTEM DEFAULT *** \~ \|LONG DISTANCE TELEPHONE LINE SURCHARGE \~ \~Since this system gives the patron a chance to call any phone number over the switched (dialup) telephone network there must be certain controls imposed to protect your site's phone bill. \~ \~1) All 1-900, 976 and call starting with 01 (foreign) are automatically excluded! \~ \~2) All other long distance (1-XXX-XXX-XXXX) calls can be controlled (allowed or not allowed) from this set up screen by chosing the Prefix option below. \~ \~It is recommended, in the interest of not having an irate customer, that you set this surcharge rate to be roughly in line with what your long distance carrier charges you for the same call plus a small surcharge fee of 1 to 15 cents per minute. \~ \~Long Distance Carriers charge anywhere from 16 to 28 cents a minute on their long distance calls (usually measured in 6 second intervals). \~ \`MAXTIME \|EVENT TIME WINDOW \~\|[M ] (M=Minutes) \~ \~Enter the number of minutes in an EVENT TIME WINDOW. It is possible to have an event time window with now charge. \~ \~Example: If 60 minutes is an event and if the rate for an event is $2.00, then you would be charging a patron a flat $2.00 per hour to use your system. Unlike charging a customer $.05 per minute this event time is not prorated to the minute, but instead is accessed in total and is incremented on each tick of the event clock. Any use from the minimum (i.e. 2 minutes) to the maximum time of 60 minutes, would be 1 x $2 = $2.00. From 61 minutes to 120 minutes would be 2 x $2 = $4.00 and so on. \~ \~When the total EVENT minutes are reached at the end of each event window the event clock ticks and a new event charge applied. \~ \`MINIMUMCHG \|MINIMUM CREDIT CARD CHARGE \~ \~You may specify a minimum charge rate for your credit card users here. Leave blank '0' if you wish to accept ANY charge. \~ \`TIMEOUT \|TIMEOUT MINUTES \~ \~The patron is expected to QUIT the system and receive a final accounting when they are done. If by some chance a patron just walks away from the system without quitting, then the system will keep track of the inactivity of the keyboard and will assume any activity on the keyboard after the number of minutes in this TIMEOUT field might be a new user and test the patron before continuing. If the test fails then the system resets to protect the previous patron. \~ \`PREAUTH \|PRE-AUTHORIZATION AMOUNT \~ \~Suggest amounts from $50 to $200. \~ \~You will want to verify that the credit card they are using is in fact a valid card and that they are the valid card holder. In addition, you will want to verify that there is sufficient credit left on the card to accommodate any charges they may run up while using this system and in some instances the system they are planning to call. \~ \~Any amount you set up here in this field will be pre-authorized prior to the patron logging on anywhere, and will reduce the amount of available credit on their card for a period of days until the actual charges clear. If you use a number to high the customer may balk at using the system or a least complain about the possible disruption of available credit on their card. \~ \`PORTOPT \|PRINTER PORT OPTION \~ \~Press the 'TAB' key till you get the port you want. \~ \~This is the port you will typically do your report printing to. This can be changed at printing time. \~ \`PRTROPT \|RECEIPT PORT OPTION \~ \~Press the 'TAB' key till you get the port you want. \~ \~This is the port you will typically do your receipt printing to. This cannot be changed at printing time. \~ \`PAYOPT \|SYSTEM PAYMENT OPTIONS \~ \~Press the 'TAB' key till you get the payment option you want. \~ \~If you choose CASH only then you will be locked out of setting up AUTO LOGON / CREDIT CARD TRANSFER services. \~ \~Choices are: CASH ONLY, CASH and CREDIT CARD, CREDIT CARD ONLY \~ \`AVSOPT \|ADDRESS VERIFICATION RATING \~ \~The Master Card Network gives an approval or disapproval on the card number first (the card is good or not good) and then tags on a Addresss Verification System (AVS) CODE to provide some feed back to the site on whether the card user has provided the correct address information along with the card. People operating with stolen cards may have valid cards but not know the correct billing address that goes along with the card. If they enter the incorrect address and/or zip code then the card may be stolen. The AVS rating then gives the site an opportunity to check for this rating and deny the use of it. The flaw in the AVS system is that people often will spell the address slightly different than that on record with the MC network (ie St. instead of Street or TR instead of Tr.). The Zip Code is more precise, but easier to guess at by would be criminals. 9 Digit (Zip+4) is harder for criminals, but most people still have not learned their Zip+4 (9 digit) Zip Codes. The site system operator has some flexibility here to evaluate the AVS response to one of three levels. \~ \~Option E: Any Correct Element: Either Address, 5 digit Zip Code, or 9 digit (Zip+4) Zip Code. \~ \~Option A: Address must be correct, but provided Zip Code may or may not match. \~ \~Option 5: Address must be correct and at least 5 digit zip code must match, 9 Digit Zip Code may or may not match. \~ \~Option 9: Address must be correct and all 9 digits of (Zip+4) Zip Code must match. \~ \~Option N: No AVS. CASH ONLY system \~ \`BAUDOPT \|MAXIMUM BAUD RATE OF SYSTEM MODEM \~ \~This is set here to provide an upper threshold to the SYSOP and for the PATRON when they are setting up a new service. Not to worry, though, modems do an excellent job of hand shaking for the maximum speed. This is included for those special instances when the baudrate has to be explicitly set. \~
