164 S T R A T - T E C H, Inc. P.O. Box 1957 Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53201 414-271-0980 800-783-9544 FAST START INFORMATION FOR NEW USERS: (If you already use an earlier version of the program do NOT copy your data files per below - this destroys existing data which you entered - see OLD USERS below). For a floppy drive system- Boot Dos per your Dos manual --Insert the Program Disk in drive a: -- Use your diskcopy command to make a backup copy: diskcopy a: a: . Repeat for the Log/Library Disk (If 360K used) if you receive extra log/library disk. For a hard drive system- Insert Program Disk in Drive a: -- Make a directory such as 'Fish' or 'Hunt' with the command: md c:\fish - Copy files to this directory: copy a:\*.* c:\fish. Repeat for Log/Library disk (if 360K disks or if special log/library disks received). OLD USERS: For Hard Drive Users- The only old files which you want to reuse (not copy new) are files without an extension (the three letters after the first eight) in the file name e.g. 'equipmen' or 'packing', and for which you have data entered already. Use the command 'XCOPY a:\*.* c:\fish /P' to selectively choose files to copy over to the same directory as you used before. The /P option of XCOPY is important; it causes XCOPY to ask you before it copies a file. For floppy drive users- Use the instructions for NEW USERS but use different disks to hold your data. Then when finished insert your old disk in drive a: and copy the data files which you have already entered your data in. The data files have no extension, for example, 'equipmen' or 'packing' or 'recipes'. Use the command "copy a:\recipes b:", where 'recipes' is a file you have data in and b: contains the new program files. Use the 'dir a:\*.' command to find their names. TO RUN THE PROGRAM: For floppy drive systems- Insert the program disk in drive a: or b:. Type in a: or b: as appropriate and press enter. Type in 'fish' and Enter to bring the system up. Read the 'Info.txt' library file to see how to use multiple disks when entered data gets large. For a hard drive- type in command 'cd c:\fish' and press enter. (Substitute the directory name you use); then type 'fish' and enter to run the program. --------------------------------------------------------- YOU MUST GO INTO SECTION 1 FIRST TO SET THE CORRECT PATH. --------------------------------------------------------- Note: The files with the extension '.dba', 'dat', and 'cfg' must be in the same directory or path as the '.exe' program i.e. fish.exe, in order to bring the opening menu up.
