It is important that your Amos ^6is always kept up-to-date! ^1 APD 373 ^7 C O M P I L E R U P D A T E R D I S K ^6 The Amos Compiler can now be updated to 1.34. Lots of bugs have ^6been fixed, again, keep up-to-date! ^1 APD 381 ^7 D E M O N S E D G E ^7 By MARK POTTER ^6 Mark has provided numerous games for the library and this is his ^6latest. This game supports up to SIX players, each player having a ^6`screen' to him/herself where he/she can see exactly where the ^6character they control is moving. This is done by displaying six ^6small rectangular playing fields on the same screen. The aim of the ^6game is for each player to find the exit to the next game level. It ^6obviously uses a combination of joysticks and keybord/keypad controls ^6for each player to use. It looks like fun if you've a load of ^6friends who all want to use your Amiga at the same time! ^1 APD 382 ^7 A M O S H A N G M A N ^7 By MIKE AUSTIN ^6 This is another variation on the old favourite game of Hangman. ^6This disk contains a version for children and a version for adults. ^6The kid's version is quite novel, with animation sequences. Soldiers ^6first march on the condemned prisoner, who stands between his guards. ^6A wrong guess makes him hide his face in dispair as a soldier brings ^6on part of the gallows. A right guess makes the prisoner jump up and ^6down with joy. This goes on until the word is complete or the man is ^6hanged and his soul ascends into the clouds. ^6 The adult version is less animated with various sections of a body ^6being added to the noose to make up a hanged man as you get letters ^6wrong. ^6 A version of Hangman that will appeal to those who like a more ^6`sinister' feel to their games! ^1 APD 383 ^7 C O U P L E S ^7 By G.LUND ^6 This is another favourite type of game - a version of pairs. This ^6one is well presented with a wide choice of cards the program can use ^6to play with. This can be a 1 or 2 player game, if you play the ^6computer you can even choose the amount of moves allowed. There is ^6also a choice of 18 or 32 cards which means that you can have a quick ^6or a longer game. ^1 APD 384 ^7 W O T S - I T S - N A M E ^7 By JIM CAMPEY ^6 This is Jim's first full game and believe me, it looks and plays ^6really well. It is based on the 20 Questions quiz show and you have ^6to guess a word from a given catagory by choosing from a choice of 20 ^6clues. The game is for up to four players and the aim is to get ^6around the game board, your score is decided by the number of clues ^6you used to get the answer. There is a wickedly fast timer, but this ^6can be stopped by starting to type your guess. This game is well ^6presented and will give hours of fun. Recommended. ^1 APD 385 ^7 S U P E R G A M E S D I S K ^7 SKY CHASER By PAUL GAUNT ^7 RATTLESNAKE By BEN ASHLEY ^7 MUNCHMAN By STEVEN EABORN ^6 Sky Chaser is a new slant on an old favourite game. It is based on ^6pacman, but instead of pacmen you have spaceships! It's very good ^6and adds variety to this type of game. ^6 Rattlesnake is a helicopter Blast'em Up. You control the helicopters ^6with joysticks and can blast each other away as well as picking up ^6points for hitting other targets. The graphics on this are great ^6with little trains moving across the screen every now and then as ^6well as little touches which make this a nice game. ^6 Munchman completes this trio of games. It's a good version of ^6Pacman and plays well. This version will bring back memories of ^6computer that have gone before the mighty Amiga! ^6 This is a value for money disk as not only do you get runnable ^6versions of the games, but the sourcecode as well. ^1 APD 386 ^7 D E M O N S D O M A I N ^7 By ROGER NUTTER ^6 Roger first gave us one of our favourite PD games, Crossfire (APD ^6110) now he has our kids hooked on this game - Demon's Domain! ^6Although it's not graphically superb (good tho') it has kept three ^6kids going for hours. The main screen is a maze and you are stuck in ^6the middle. The way out looks easy, you just walk along the ^6spiralling path to the exit - but no! At every bend you bump into an ^6invisible switch which transports you to a mini game which you have ^6to complete in order to get farther along the path. ^6 There are 7 gamelettes which are called at random, so you get a ^6different feel to each game. These games include a car race, dodging ^6the arrows like Indiana Jones, one where you you are tied to a block ^6and to prevent getting squished you have a set number of tries at ^6guessing a letter. Another is a minefield game and there is also a ^6centipede game, the last two I have yet to see as I thought I'd ^6better stop playing and get back to work! ^6 Another disk worth getting - simply presented but very, very ^6addictive! ^1 APD 387 ^7 R A I N B O W E D U C A T I O N A L S O F T W A R E D E M O ^6 This is a Try-Before-You-Buy disk. Rainbow Educational Software ^6present demos of three of their products and give you limited access ^6to them so that you can try out the games before deciding if you'd ^6like the full version which cost around £8 each. ^1 APD 389 ^7 M U S I C D I S K 5 ^7 By LUKE MILLER ^6 This is disk 5 in Luke's music disk collection. It has its own ^6music player so you can load'n'Go with this one. ^1 APD 390 ^7 M U S I C D I S K 6 ^7 By LUKE MILLER ^6 Disk 6 in Luke's collection, this also boots and runs independently. ^1 APD 391 ^7 E A R L Y W O R K S ^7 By MAES HUGO ^6 This is a music player from Belgium, hopefully the title implies ^6that there are more disks to follow! ^1 APD 392 ^7 I F F L A N D S C A P E S ( L O R E S ) ^7 By M. ANGEL ^6 A bootable disk of Vista landscapes for you to use as backgrounds ^6etc. All Lores. ^1 APD 393 ^7 I F F L A N D S C A P E S ( H I R E S ) ^7 By M. ANGEL ^6 As above, but Hires this time. ^1 APD 394 ^7 A M O S P R O G S 3 0 ^6 This disk is truely international! Programs come from France, ^6Poland, New Zealand as well as the UK. This disk is full of source ^6code for all programmers. There are 19 progs in all, too many to ^6list here. Get it, you shouldn't be disappointed! ^1 APD 395 ^7 A M O S P R O G S 3 1 ^7 CHECKPOINT By LUKE MILLER ^6 Luke has sent in source code for this car race game which ^6unfortunately took up so much disk space that it couldn't be made ^6runnable! Well worth getting and playing. I must admit that I'm no ^6good at this type of game, but at least I got the car to move around ^6the track! Recommended. ^1 APD 396 ^7 P U R P L E H A Z E D E M O ^7 By QUATOS ^6 A demo by Quatos which starts off with a view of a radar screen ^6which goes away once a `blip' reaches the centre. This demo shows ^6plasma effects, 3-D vectors, music with disco-effects such as ^6flashing lights and vu metres plus more. Nice demo. ^1 APD 397 ^7 MY M U S I C M A C H I N E ^7 By ANDY PAUL ^6 This program is what you could call a `keyboard similator' as it has ^6the features found on electronic keyboards. There is a wide choice ^6of instruments and rhythms selected from panels at the top of the ^6screen, the control options are in the middle and here you can decide ^6on the tempo, rhythm volume, whether you'd like vu meter bars, if ^6you'd like the notes to be named on the keyboard and even if you'd ^6like a finger to press the keys for you! The music is actually ^6played by using the Amiga's keyboard, as in Sound Tracker. Perhaps ^6later versions will include a load and save tune facility. Nice ^6music program. ^1 APD 398 ^7 C U B I C D E M O ^7 By SHOCKWAVE ^6 This is a long awaited demo from Shockwave AKA Nick Simpson of ^6Hanissis V fame. This is a demo which is worth a look if you are ^6into the demo scene. It contains some interesting scroller effects - ^6one takes the text around the screen, one that is called curvy and ^6makes the text look wavy and bouncy and a sinewave scroller which is ^6really smooth. There's a big wavy `Cubic' logo, pixel dots, pics and ^6even a chess floor which can be controlled with a joystick - ^6excellent. It concludes with mind-blowing colour circles. A must ^6for you demo people! ^1 APD 400 ^7 E A S Y R A M O S D I S K ^7 By permission of Europress Software. ^6 This disk will allow Easy Amos Users to make stand alone disks of ^6their programs. ^3 LATE NEWS!! ^4 Please see enclosed Leaflet for the absolute latest APD disks which ^4were put into the Library just a day or two before this Issue went ^4out!
