We ^2didn't send any out after this as we thought we'd give new readers a ^2chance to get used to the magazine first. We have really enjoyed ^2reading your comments, it is encouraging to know that we have got ^2most things right, and interesting to find out that you have some ^2ideas of your own. ^1 We have had more response to the last issue than any previous issue, ^1is this because we now have more readers, or that you all prefer ^1filling in forms? There have been more entries for this competition ^1than for any other, thanks again for supporting it! ^7QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ ^2 The results of the survey show that 90% prefer to use the mouse to ^2control the text, 5% prefer keyboard control, and 5% use both! ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^1 On the question of multi-coloured text, 70% prefer the two coloured ^1display, and 30% like the multi-colours. ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^2 Everyone agrees that TA helps them with programming with AMOS. ^2 (Thanks!) ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^4 These are some suggestions for additions to the magazine. ^4 More help for beginners ^4 How about increasing the size of the text viewing area, ie cut down ^4 the width of the border ^4 Mini games ^5 Programming - would it be possible to - ^5Do a text reader in Amos in the following manner ^5Link the vertical sliders to either a pre-detirmined (size) text ^5reader, or as above but using rubber banding to position and ^5detirmine size. Type in text and save it. Bring back the text as ^5part of another program. Attach (by menu or other) a search ^5facility. append a record number. ^5 Very basic tutorials about using Amos Basic - preferably interactive ^5 More programming skills ^5 A fancy printed label ^5 Tutorials, (similar to DPaint's) Making a start, using the tools, ^5 step by step learning ^5 Subroutine libraries- (like screen wipes, but other things) ^5 How about a 'special offer' section where interested readers could ^5 buy software packages at reduced rates. Could it be arranged? ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^2 As to things that should be removed - ^2 Reviews - usually well covered by the national magazines ^2 Totally Useless ^2 Reviews, Ads, Cheats, Kid's stuff, Silly bits - use space for more ^2 programs ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^1 Amos for Kids (and beginners) ^1 70% read the article and 50% use the information. ^1 In which case, why did only ONE reader notice that the kids' program ^1 was missing from TA3?!! ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^5 There were varied reasons for the lack of entries to the ^5 competitions, from being lazy to already owning the prizes! ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^4 90% like the screen wipes and collect them, 10% didn't. ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^4 100% like the Sound Samples, 70% collect them ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^2 Here are the suggestions for tutorials, if there are any experts in ^2any of these out there, we would appreciate some help in putting ^2 these together. ^1 Video, Ctext ^1 Amal programming - Paul Townsend starts a series on AMAL in this ^1 issue. ^1 Animation in both Amos and Amal form starting from scratch ie idiot ^1 proof! ^1 Amal ^1 Screen scrolling with Animation ^1 Absolute basic BASIC Use of Dim, Read, Data etc for complete ^1 beginners ^1 (Try Amos for Kids!!!!!) ^1 Some of the little programs that are supplied with Amos, eg Amal ^1 editor, map designer, Squash a bob etc ^1 Setting up a grid area in 2D or 3D ^1 Assembly programming (in conjunction with Amos) ^1 Multi bobs/sprites (the ability to control them seperately) e.g. I ^1would like to be able to identify each Bob/Sprite and use the mouse ^1to click on it and control it at particular points in the program. ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^4 Here are some other suggestions received from readers. ^4 I find that in 2 colour mode, that the black on dark brown is ^4difficult to read. Perhaps you could lighten the brown a little. ^4 I also think that the right mouse button, and the up and down arrows ^4to go to the top or bottom of an article is a bit pointless. I would ^4rather it flip the whole screen one page at a time. ^3 IT'S BEEN DONE!! ^4It would be nice if you could just dump the information on the screen ^4to your printer. Sometimes you just want a little bit of an article ^4as reference. ^3 YOUR WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED!! ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^7 Also I am still confused on how to map a large map and then use ^7portions of it. (ie Adventure games) ^7 Creating custom pull-down menus - the graphics side - presentation. ^7 Are there any moves to put more colours into Amos 3D? (not as far as ^7we know! A.) ^6 .ooOOOoo. ^2 Thanks again for your replies, please keep on writing - after all ^2it's the ONLY way to get what you want in TA!! ^7QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ \
