All kids seem to love ^4dinosaurs, from Dino of Flintstone fame to the real skeletons seen in ^4museums. ^2 In the program docs Steve says that it was written specifically for ^2children, and he has taken a lot of care to make things as easy as ^2possible for the younger player while still retaining the feel of a ^2real game. ^4 Each part displays an information screen before going to the main ^4game, this gives you the necessary knowledge to get the best use of ^4the program. ^2 There are four programs on this disk, which make it really good ^2value. ^7 These are:- Dino-Saw - mouse controlled ^7 Dinoslide - mouse controlled ^7 Egg-stinct - mouse controlled ^7 Snakes and Caves. - joystick controlled ^4 The games are selected from a very impressive looking menu screen. ^4the background is a marble slab which displays the names of the ^4games. An arrow foats at each side and the games are selected by ^4moving these up or down with the joystick and choosing with the fire ^4button, ^7 Dinosaw is a jigsaw puzzle. There is a picture showing three ^7dinosaurs, the puzzle pieces are squares which you fit back into a ^7grid. You first see the completed picture, which disappears when you ^7press the `play' button. The pieces are selected by clicking on ^7arrows at the side of a display box. the pieces are shown here and ^7can be placed on the grid with a click of the left mouse button. A ^7piece can be removed by using the right button. There is a `help' ^7button which displays the whole picture for you. ^6 Dinoslide offers a choice of four sliding puzzles, selected by ^6clicking on the numbers in the corners. The pictures are really good ^6dino pics which you mix by clicking on the `jumble' button and ^6reassemble by selecting a square next to a space. It then slides ^6into the space and you're ready to move the next piece. This is an ^6excellent version of a traditional game. ^5 Snakes and Caves is another excellent version of a traditional game. ^5There are several novel touches. The means of rolling a dice is the ^5best I've seen yet. At the start of a turn a boulder slides on from ^5the edge of the screen and hits a caveman on the head. The height of ^5the resulting bump decides the number of moves! The player has to ^5move his/her own playing piece, (these are cavemen on pogo sticks!) ^5using arrows, clicking on the centre to say that the move is ^5complete. It is good that the child is involved in deciding how far ^5to move, but there doesn't seem to be any checking to see if any ^5cheating has gone on. Another new touch is that some squares are ^5full of mud where you can get stuck and have to throw a 3 or 6 to ^5move on. ^4 Eggstinct is a brilliant title for a prehistoric fun pack! This is ^4a little platform game in which you control a dinosaur, a cute little ^4green dino, with the joystick. His aim in life is to travel around ^4collecting eggs, avoiding the baddies and trying not to fall in the ^4water. You don't die, you just get put back to the start of the ^4level. ^6 All in all this is an egg-sellent package and will give hours of fun ^6to young Dino holics. Well recommended. ^7+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ \
