-------------------------- Points Of View - Skidmarks -------------------------- A number of AMOS users have expressed amazements at the new wonder-BASIC that is Blitz BASIC 2. Dan is an AMOS user who may soon join the other side......... What makes this Blitz BASIC creation different from all the others is that it carries a £25.99 price tag. This is a true statement of what Blitz is really capable of and, whilst the title leaves a lot to be desired, the game really is first rate. You have to race a little car round the track as fast as you can to win the race and get the fastest lap time you can. Its all very much in the Super Sprint mode. The tracks are all excellent and about 4 screens in size! What's best is that the track `mudifies' in that the grass and track are churned up by the speeding motor vehicles! Up to four players can play simultaneously without the aid of an adapter; this adds a new element to the play and will keep you going for years. However, keyboard players will be confronted with some bad `keyboard shadowing' which is where, occassionally, the keyboard locks up. Unfortunately this causes the car to career off the track, although it is a hardware fault and not due to lazy programming. The sound is fair with some good title music and engine effects during play, but this grates on the nerves after a while. If this is the state of all Blitz BASIC 2 software to come then it's going to be great. However, AMOS is still going to keep producing a wider range of software of an even greater quality. It's all down to programmers like you!!
