----------------- SEEMORE DOOLITTLE ----------------- This is the other half of the Wrath of Gwendore double pack. Unlike Wrath, this is a shoot-em-up with a distinctly Project-X feel to it. It is set under water and looks very much like X-out from Rainbow Arts - this, I assure you, is not a bad thing. Graphically this is streets ahead of Wrath, the sprites are all of the quality I've come to expect from a Brian Bell game. Seemore is very cute and is superbly drawn and his little attack sub is highly original, something that this genre needed badly. The backgrounds accompany the action well and like the sprites are very detailed. Of course, if it hasn't good looking baddies it's all wasted, but I am pleased to say that the enemies are superb; Ashley [Cunningham -Ed] has excelled himself. The sound is good, explosions and blasts are all present and correct. Although there is no in game tune the effects are very atmospheric, so turn of the lights and pump up the volume on the monitor (or television for that matter!). What's intresting about the control system is that Seemore can turn around and therefore shoot behind him. This is something that I haven't seen since the ageing Cross-Wise blast-em-up on the good old Speccy. This rather minute alteration to the normal shoot-em-up controls adds a new tension to the action. Actually I'm surprised that more people don't use this type of control. Full marks all round, I think. The power-ups are your usual fair. My personal favourite is a large ball of boomerang shaped flame which brings a swift death to even the toughest adversaries. Aside from that the weapons are very uninteresting. It would have been nice to see a new power-up system, but this works fine so I'll shut up. It's not very original I know but it is playability that counts and, like Brian's previous efforts, Seemore has got it by the bucket load. I really enjoyed playing this and whilst it's not going to last for ages, it is a competant blast. Graphics- 85% Sound- 81% Playability - 92% Lastabillity - 75% ------------------ Overall- 88% ------------------ I firmly recommend that you purchase this pack, even though you will probably only play Wrath of Gwendore once (and that's once too many.) This represents outstanding value for money and is, for once, worth paying the coder what he deserves. Available from... Brian Bell 8 Magnolia Park Dunmury Belfast BT17 ODS
