-------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - The Letters Page - - - -------------------------------------------------------------------- Bye Bye AMOS ------------ Dear N.B.A What do you think of Blitz BASIC? is it really a serious threat to AMOS? Oh and keep up the good work on the magazine. James Knox, Greater Manchester The postman's response:- Blitz BASIC is definately a serious threat to AMOS, although I doubt that it will take off as much and enjoy the same level of success as our beloved baby. For starters it is more involved than AMOS and the manual is extremely naff. It doesn't have a dedicated sprite designer and compiled programs are extremely temperamental. On the plus side it's very fast - even more so than compiled AMOS. However, you can achieve the same speed by purchasing our TURBO extension (see the public domain section for more information). Oh and Skidmarks is far better than anything AMOS can do! Sorry to have to say that James but Blitz BASIC was written as a games creating language by games programmers and assuch it is good at creating games. AMOS was written as a BASIC programming language and as such is not brilliant at super-fast arcade games. Personally I use both. Don't worry though, you won't be seeing Nothing But BLITZ for quite some time. Send your letters to the following address:- N.B.AMOS Letters Section 39 Riding Dene Mickley Northumberland NE43 7DL
