---------- Font-X 2.0 ---------- Brian Bell, author of Charlie Chimp - the winner of the Gamesmaster design a game with AMOS competition - and editor of the Mr AMOS Club gives his verdict on our very own Font-X 2.0. "At last we have a decent font utility that can be used to change around the boring AMOS default font that we are all sick of looking at! In fact you can also change around any other font that's 8*8 pixels in size. The whole program is completely controlled via the mouse although there are a few keyboard shortcuts for all you lazy people. At the top of the screen is a selection of different options which allow you to load and save the different fonts that you wish to edit. Once you have loaded a font in, each of the 256 different characters that it contains appear on the left side of the screen inside a large grid. On the right side of the screen are all the editing menus which include functions like flip-X and Y, invert, clear, cut and paste etc. In order to edit an actual character from the font all you have to do is click on it and press the cut function - it's as simple as that. Once you do this the character you have selected appears in magnified form on the right-hand side of the screen and you can change the different pixels it contains by clicking on them. Once you have the new character designed it's only a matter of pressing the paste button to insert it into the font. You can place it anywhere you want by selecting different grid spaces. Full instructions are contained within the program and these can be accessed by pressing the help button. On the actual disk you will find two differetn versions of the program - one for AMOS classic and one for AMOS Pro. As well as this you'll find a selection of already designed fonts. I recommend obtaining this handy little utility especially due to the fact that it's priced at only £3.50.
