AMOS - DIRECTORY v1.00 ---------------------- by Murray Jones Introduction: AMOS-Directory was developed by me as a directory ------------ utility which not only copies files, renames files, reads text files, shows pictures, but also views a number of AMOS related files. eg showing sprites, playing AMOS music banks, showing packed picture files, and many others. Getting Started: If you have used a directory utility before, such as --------------- Diskmaster or SID you should have no trouble using this program. If you haven't though, try the example below: When you click on either DF0: DF1: DH0: or DH1: the directory of that disk is displayed to left of the buttons, similar to below. c (Dir) dir (Dir) l (Dir) libs (Dir) s (Dir) AxelF (Music) 85702 Car.Pic (Picture) 36452 Drum (Soun FX) 2350 Game-Sounds (Sounds) 8218 Readme (Unknown) 1265 ^ ^ ^ | | | file and File type File size directory or names directory * The first column shows the name of the directory or files on the disk. * The Second column shows the type of file or if it is a directory. * The third column shows the size of the files eg The " AxelF " file is a music file and is 85702 bytes in size. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The buttons have the following functions: ---------------------------------------- DF0: Shows the directory of the internal disk drive. --- DF1: Shows the directory of the first external disk drive. --- DH0: Shows the directory of the first hard disk partition. --- (I haven't got a hard disk so I can't test this button, but it should work correctly). DH1: Shows the directory of the second hard disk partition. --- Show Sprites: Shows an AMOS sprite file. ------------ Play Sounds: Plays an AMOS sound file. ----------- Show Picture: Shows Standard IFF picture files, as well as AMOS ------------ packed picture files. Play Music: Plays an AMOS music file. ---------- Read Text File: Shows any text file. -------------- (When the text file is being displayed, holding down either mouse button will pause the listing of the text file and both buttons at once will quit showing the text file). Copy File: Copy's any file from one disk or directory to another. --------- Rename File: Changes the name of any file. ----------- Delete File: Deletes any file. ----------- Make Directory: Makes a new directory inside the current directory. -------------- Print Directory: Prints the current directory. --------------- About AMOS Dir: Displays information about this program. -------------- Quit Program: Quits using AMOS Directory. ------------ Note: The buttons Show Sprites, Play Sounds, Show Picture, Play Music, ---- Read Text File, Copy File, Rename File and Delete File need a file to be highlighted before these will work. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Bank Types: This version of AMOS Directory (Version 1.00) can identify ---------- 12 file and bank types: (Sprites) = AMOS Sprite file. (Sounds) = AMOS Sound file. (Amal) = AMOS Amal bank. (Music) = AMOS Music file. (Data) = AMOS Data bank. (Work) = AMOS Work bank. (Icons) = AMOS Icon bank. (Menu) = AMOS Menu bank. (Pac.Pic) = AMOS Packed Picture file. (Program) = AMOS Program file. (Picture) = Standard Amiga IFF Picture file. (Soun-FX) = Standard Amiga IFF Sound File. (Unknown) = Used when the program cannot identify the file as any one of the file types used above. (Dir) = Identifies any Directories. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Known Bugs: If A file name has a space in it, eg "Game Sprites" ---------- instead of "Game-Sprites" or Game.Sprites" then the display will be messed up and that file cannot be loaded for any operation, and you will probably crash the program if you try. Improvements Planned For Version 2.00: ------------------------------------- * Loading and viewing 3D Objects from AMOS 3D. * Viewing TOME maps. * Identifying more file types. * A Preference screen where the screen colours can be changed, the screen position can be moved etc. * Fixing of the above bug. --------------------------------------------------------------------- If you wish to have a copy of AMOS-Directory v2.00 as well as any other programs I have written in AMOS, then please send me a disk with any AMOS programs you have written. If you are only a beginner at AMOS you could send a disk with any public domain programs on it, or just a blank disk will do. If you have any bug reports, suggestions for AMOS Directory v2.00 or wish to discuss anything about AMOS then please contact me. Send your disk or letter to this address: Murray Jones 14 Green Street Lockhart N.S.W 2656 I hope to hear from you soon. Murray Jones
