TELE TITLE 2 Lowres Information. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The 'Hi-Resolution Interlaced' version of this program has been up-dated and is now ready. If you're an Up-Dater read the Up-Dates below and then Exit. If you're a Newcomer read the Instructions (Below the Up-Date Info) and then read the Up-Dates below before Exiting. Tele Title 2 Lowres is Public Domain. ================= The Up-Dates... ================= Before: There was no way of changing the number of colours for your Sequence and/or Picture. Up-Date: You can now choose the number of colours your Sequence and/or Picture use. For example, if your Picture colour setting is 16 but your Picture only uses 4 colours, simply lower the setting to number 4. I've split the settings into two parts. L.Col and P.Col L means Letters and P means Picture. Note: if your setting is more than 16 when you switch to the Fade Method, your setting will automatically go down to 16, as this is the maximum fade number. Before: The Listing (Source Code) was in Easy_Amos code. Up-Date: The program has been transfered to Amos v1.35 code. This means the program has gained speed, So your old settings may have to be altered. Settings such as the Cast Screen Pause, Picture Screen Pause, etc. Before: There was no way of timing your sequence. Up-Date: There is now a routine in the program that uses your clock allowing you to calculate the time of your sequence, for such purposes as adding music to your films, etc. This routine just gives a Start time and a End time, so you will have to calculate the time your- self. This couldn't be helped as there is no way I can set your clock to 00:00:00 for timer purposes from within Amos. However, I hope the routine is of some help to you. Before: The program was mainly Keyboard Key based. Up-Date: You now have the choice of pressing a Mouse Key or a Keyboard Key for almost everything (see the 'Keys' icon in the program). Before: You couldn't move the screen display around. Up-Date: You can now move the screen display around in the X and Y positions This function doesn't highlight the screen so you will need to know what co-ords your Television (or Monitor) uses. My Television uses 128 X and 40 Y so I've set the default to these values. The co-ord ranges are X 112 to 240 and Y 30 to 99. Before: The 'View Directory' routine was completely naff! Up-Date: There's a completely New 'View Directory' routine. Note: Some people use the word 'Directory' to mean the contents of a Disk and the contents of a Drawer. I use the word to mean the contents of a Disk and nothing else. I've called this routine 'View Directory' simply because you have to View the contents of a Disk (Directory) before you can View the contents of a Drawer. For the Key lay-out Just look at the 'Keys' Icon in the program. 'Again' means read the directory again. This looks at 'DF0:' so if you need to read another disk's directory then simply swap disks when you're viewing a Drawer and hit the 'Again' icon. 'Post' simply means go back to the Post-Production menu. The scroll arrows will not scroll the listing if 'Start' or 'End' is less or equal to 20. View Directory reads upto 60 items (Drawers and/or Files). The Mouse has no Scroll Bar when choosing a Drawer to view so you will have to watch the Mouse's Tip when you click on a drawer's name. Before: You could not turn the Cast off after your sequence. If you turned the Cast off before your sequence you would erase the names. Up-Date: You can now turn the Cast off/on and keep the names in memory or you can turn the cast off and erase the names as before. Before: If you erased the Titles and/or Names, etc, from memory and then tried to save them you would just be saving a blank space (I.e. the erased memory couldn't be brought back and re-poked with your Names etc). Up-Date: I haven't re-poked the Names, etc, back into memory (Because a routine to do this would have to re-check most of the Post menu's Variables and some of the program Variables, etc), but I did fix the problem by switching off all the relevant save options when you have erased the memory. However, because of this up-date you can only use this function once. so if you need to erase the memory and you don't need the 'Names' save options, etc, then use this function but if you need the 'Names' save options, etc, then leave this function alone. Before: There was no way of Loading in your new Set Titles. Up-Date: You can now Load in the new Set Titles. Before: You couldn't set the space between each letter. Up-Date: You can now set the space between each letter with a value from 1 to 9. I could have made the range bigger, but I thought the standard space is usually 8 or less so I didn't bother. Besides, a space of more than 9 pixels between each letter would only limit the amount of letters you can have on the screen even further. There's a condition to 'Space' and thats that you have to alter the space setting before loading or entering any Main Titles and Names, Cast Names, The Cast Title and/or Set Titles. This is because the program checks the above items against the 'Space' setting to make sure they will fit on the screen. I've left the check routine in the program, but taken out its messages. So if a Title, etc won't fit onto the screen the program will QUIT. Don't panic because the same routines are in the Entry- Lowres program together with messages, so if a Title, etc won't fit then you can correct it until it does fit. The default setting for 'Space' is 6. This belongs to T-T-2's Set Titles, so if you want to change the space setting for these Set Titles you must first save the Set Titles to Disk, then change the 'Space' setting and re-load the Set Titles. I would have put these Set Titles on this disk, but I wasn't sure about the disk space and free memory, etc. If you alter the 'Space' setting lower or higher than your items normal value then your items may not be in the center of the screen This is because your Cast Title, Cast Names and Names are always checked to see if they fit onto the screen, but your Set Titles are only checked when you load them in - This is because checking them all the time would slow the program down and because they only need checking once to see they fit onto the screen. Apart from the above Up-Dates I've also up-dated the error messages so that they're much easier to understand. The error checking routines have been up-dated aswell. Filenames... I've only given you ten characters for your filename because it's a bit naff for example, having to type in a filename of 20 characters everytime you need to load something...isn't it?!! I advice you to set your filename something like the following... 72Wed9John Where 72 is the number of Titles, etc in your sequence - Wed means your film is a Wedding - 9 is the 'Space' setting and 'John' is the name of your filename or the name of your Wedding Video person, etc. You could use things like - Doc for Documentary or We for Wedding or Do for Documentary, etc. Notes... The cast on/off option is in the Post-Production menu. To toggle the Cast on/off just enter your cast names as normal and leave icon 1 set to cast on. If you toggle the cast on/off with icon 1 then you will have to enter your cast names again because toggling icon 1 tells the error routine you don't need a cast, thus, reseting the option variable. I haven't put a message on the screen to tell you the Names save options, etc, have been switched off when you erase the memory. This is because it would add too much memory to the program just to check for each key press and print the message. 'View Directory' will only except Drawer/File-names of 29 characters or less. This is because of Easy_AMOS and not myself. This isn't a problem for use with T-T-2, but if you're using it for anything else then please note: Any Drawer/File-names with more than 29 characters in them will be read as 29 characters and do not exist. I've put Scr.X and Scr.Y (The screen display function) inside the Edit menu. Click on a yellow box when using the mouse option in the Edit/Post menu. If you need to load some new Set Titles then you must load them in before loading or entering any items. Remember to set the 'Space' function (if you need to) before loading in your new Set Titles. Also, Load in your 'Letter Width Sizes' (if you need to) before loading or entering any items. If you Load in some Set Titles then don't adjust the 'Space' setting afterwards. If you have any earlier versions of T-T-2 Lowres then do not use the data from them in this up-dated version. Always wait for the end messages before pressing any more keys. I.e. If you are loading in some Set Titles wait for the message "Your Set Titles are now in memory". Most things will only take a few seconds, but in the case of Set Titles it will take a little longer because it has a check routine behind it aswell as the normal entering of titles routine. To make a new disk up just put 8 Drawers on your new disk and name them the same as mine. I.e. Progs, Pictures, Titles, etc. You can call the Disk what ever you like because T-T-2 Lowres always looks at 'DF0:'. So you could call it 'Weddings' or 'Birthdays' etc. I think I covered everything you need to know. If you have any Questions, etc then feel free to write anytime...Bye ============================================================================= TELE TITLE 2 Lowres INFO. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS IS A COMPILED (Low-Resolution) 'Auto-Load' VERSION DISK. I've only changed the important details in these instructions, so if you come across the word 'T-T-2' or 'Tele Title 2' then you'll know I mean 'T-T-2 Lowres' or 'Tele Title 2 Lowres'. ================= Introduction... ================= Tele Title 2 is a Video Titling program. It was written with Easy-AMOS (V1.1) on a A600 with 2Mb. It was written with the Camcorder User in mind and will be of best use to them, although I'm sure you could use it for other things. In these instructions (and the program) I've used the following terms as follows... Set Titles - These are the titles defined by me that you can change in the 'Entry Lowres' program. I.e. Editor, Producer, Director, etc. Main Titles - These are what you choose to go with your Names. I.e. You may choose 'Editor' as a Main Title. Names - These are the Names to go with your Main Titles. I.e. You may put the Name 'John White' to go with your 'Editor' Main Title. Cast Title - This is simply the Cast Title you choose. I.e. You may choose the Cast Title 'Starring' to go with your Cast Names. Cast Names - These are the names to go with your Cast Title. I.e. You may have the Cast Name 'John White' to go with your 'Starring' Cast Title. Items - I've used this word to mean any/all of the above. ========= Bobs... ========= Tele Title 2 uses Bobs instead of Fonts. It's main feature is it's ability to read Letter Width Sizes. For example, if you had the letter 'i' with a width of 15 pixels and the letter `s` with a width of 65 pixels then Tele Title 2 would read the different width sizes and print the letters in a font manner. I.e. print 'is' rather than 'i' - gap - 's'. This means that you can have Lower Cased letters aswell as CAPITAL letters. The Bob Bank lay-out is as follows... Bobs 1-26 = A to Z (capital letters for your names). Bob 27 = Space 28 = - 29 = . 30 = ' 31 = ! 32 = & Bobs 33-58 = a to z (lower cased letters for your names). Bobs 59-84 = A to Z (capital letters for your titles). Bob 85 = Space 86 = - 87 = . 88 = ' 89 = ! 90 = & Bobs 91-116 = a to z (lower cased letters for your titles). Bobs 117-124 belong to the program and should NEVER be changed. As you can see from the above I have left out the main characters. I did put them into Tele Title 1, but I decided to leave them out of this program. Anyway, if you come to think about it, T.V program Credits hardly, if ever, use a $ or a * symbol, etc, in their Titles. ================ The program... ================ When the program opens you will see the Main Menu with nine Icons at the bottom of the screen and in the middle of the screen are some of the Main Titles. You simply select a Main Title and enter upto 3 names for it. You can have upto 25 characters for each name - if your Letter Width Sizes will allow you to. (Letter Width Size is explained later) I've only allowed upto 25 characters per name because I've based this program around the medium to large letters only. However, you can have small letters if you wish. The Cast Titles are part of the program and can not be saved or loaded. Tele Title 2 allows you to have upto 72 Main Titles with upto 3 names per Main Title in your Title Sequence, aswell as upto 50 Cast Names. ========================= Typing in your Names... ========================= When you enter your names you will see a character function. If the name you last typed in won't fit the width of the screen then this will tell you the offending Character Number of your name. For example, if you typed in a name with 15 characters in it and only 10 characters will fit on the screen then this function will tell you that character 11, onwards, will not fit on the screen. The program clears your name off the screen so make sure you know what name you last typed in. I cleared your name because I assumed you would be working from a list or know what you're typing in. I.e. I didn't assume you would be typing in names from the top of your head. ============== The Icons... ============== Icon 1: Left Key - You have a Cast or Party in your film. Right Key - You do not have a Cast or Party in your film. Perhaps your film is a Documentary. Icon 2: Left Key - You have chosen the Cast Title 'Starring'. Right Key - You have chosen the Cast Title 'Starred'. 3rd Key/Both Keys - You have chosen the Cast Title 'Party Goer's'. Note: If you don't have a Third key on your mouse then just press both keys to give you the Cast Title 'Party Goer's' and with both keys still held down simply drag the mouse away from the Icon. The edge of each Icon is safe because the mouse won't operate on these areas. This is to avoid accidentally Quiting the program, Selecting the wrong function, etc. Icon 3: Left Key - Enter your Cast's Names, if needed. Icon 4: Left Key - Quit the program. Icon 5: Left Key - The Edit menu. Icon 6: Left Key - A reminder of the Keys and Mouse Keys. Go to this menu first. Icon 7: Left Key - Test and Play. This will test for errors and then play your sequence if no errors were detected. Icon 8: Left Key - My Address, etc. Icon 9: Left Key - The Post-Production menu. ================== The Edit Menu... ================== This menu simply allows you change things like the position of your Titles and Names, etc (Up and Down positions only). You can also change the Screen Pause and the Fade Speed, etc. Positions are set in pixels and not character squares. You will have to change the edit menu settings because I've left the them at my debugging values. Note: There are Gap Keys in this menu. For example, if you wanted to change a title position from 200 to 400 then you would simply set the Gap to 100 and press the title position button twice to reach 400, rather than pressing it 200 times to reach 400. ============================= The Post-Production menu... ============================= This menu allows you to Load and Save your sequence. You can Load or Save certain parts of your sequence. For example, you could load in your Wedding Titles and then load in different names for those titles. Or, you could load in some Names and then load in different titles for those names. You must load in the same number of items. For example, you cannot load in 6 Main Titles and then load in 10 Names. The program won't let you quit this menu until the items are equal. Also, when you first select the above option you must load in a set of Main Titles and a set of Names. You cannot load in a set of Main Titles for example and then carry on. If you try to do this the program won't let you quit this menu until you've loaded in some Names. Once you've loaded your first set of (equal) Main Titles and Names you can simply load your Main Titles and Names seperately, as long as they're equal to the last item you loaded. Apart from loading and saving your Main Titles and Names and Cast Names you can also load a Packed 'Low-Res' (No Interlace or Overscan) Screen. This will be put at the front of your sequence, before the Titles begin. This is best used as a Title Screen. I thought this function would be better than a typed in Title Screen. I've put a Screen Packer program (called 'Packer Lowres') in the progs drawer for you to use. Your Packed screen goes into Bank 15 and can be upto 60,000 bytes in length with upto 32 Colours. Just follow the prompts in 'Packer- Lowres' and let the program do the rest. Remember to put your Packed Screen into the 'Pictures' drawer. You can switch the screen on and off. This is good if you want to see what a screen would look like with your sequence. You can also erase the memory bank that your screen uses. You can also erase the memory banks that your Main Titles, Names, Cast Names and Letter Width sizes use aswell, but they can only be erased after your sequence has been shown - This is because the program may still need to use these memory banks before your sequence is shown. You can load and save your Letter Width Sizes aswell. The Letter Width Size function makes sure your words are printed in the middle of the screen, by calculating each letter's width and then the whole word's length including spaces. So if you load in some letters then you will need to load in their letter width sizes, unless it uses the letter width sizes already in memory. The Screen Method function has 3 options... 1. Make the sequence suddenly appear - Screen Pause - then Fade out. 2. Fade the sequence in - Screen Pause - then Fade out. (16 colours only) 3. Print one letter at a time until the screen is done - Screen Pause - then Fade out. Screen Pause is simply the length of time a screen waits before Fading Out. There is a Pause for options 3 that controls the speed of the letters appearing. Numbers 4 and 5 are the normal speed. The Directory function on this menu simply allows you to check what's on your disk. This is only to remind you what's on your disk. It doesn't erase files, make new drawers, etc. The Load Bob-Amos function allows you to load Bank number 1. This is where your letters, characters and the program's icons are stored. If you use the Erase Memory function to erase the memory banks that your Names, etc use then don't worry about losing your Names, etc because they are stored in variables. You will only be erasing the memory, not the Names, etc themselves. However, You should save your Names, etc (if you need to) before erasing the memory. I only set up the memory banks because I couldn't directly save or load the variables. Many of the program messages, etc, have been cut short, I.e Size instead of Letter Width Size - Pos instead of Position, simply because there wasn't enough room on the screen. If you Load some Main Titles and Names (whilst still on the Main Menu part of the program) you can go to the Main Menu and add other Main Titles and Names to the END of those you've just loaded in. Don't type in your Main Titles and Names first and then Load in some Main Titles and Names because you will overwrite all the Main Titles and Names you've just typed in. The above only applies to your Main Titles and Names, you cannot add Cast Names to loaded in Cast Names. ======================== Testing the program... ======================== 1. Load Titles & Names - Filename is 'Test' Load a Screen - Filename is 'Test-16' or 'Test-32' Load a Cast - Filename is 'Test' 2. Hit the 'Test/Play' Icon with your Left Mouse Key and follow the prompts. When the sequence has finished you will be presented with a small menu. This gives you the following choices... Re-Run the sequence - Do I need to say more! The Edit menu - calls back the edit menu allowing you to re-edit ya sequence The Post-Production menu - calls back the post-production menu allowing you to load/save new names, titles, etc. Go back to the main menu - This goes back to the main menu and resets every- thing. You can type in new names, pick another Cast title, etc. So, as you can see, the first part of the program is really for things like typing in your names, picking your cast title, etc. Whereas the second part (after your sequence has been shown) is for the editing side of things. You can edit your sequence before of course, if you already know your positions, fade speed, etc, but on the whole it's best to edit afterwards just in case you've made a typing error! ===================== The Letters, etc... ===================== To change the letters in the program to your own simply do the following... 1. Get your favourite clip art letters, fonts or whatever and print or paste them onto a blank Dpaint (or other art package) screen. Once you have pasted or printed them onto the blank screen, save the screen. 2. Now load the Easy-AMOS 'Bob-Editor' program. Now insert the T-T-2 disk and load the 'Bob-Banker' file from the 'progs' drawer. You should now have my letters, characters and the program's Icons in the bank. 3. Now select the grab-pic Icon from the Bob-Editor program. Load your clip- art, fonts or whatever screen into the program. 4. Now simply grab your letter 'A' and paste it over my letter 'A' by using Bob-Editor's overwrite Icon. 5. keep following step 4 until you've overwritten all my letters and all my characters only. Do not overwrite Bobs 117 to 124. These belong to the program and should NEVER be changed. When you have all your letters and Characters in the bank simply save the bank under any name you choose. You will have to count the number of pixels that each letter's width has so that you can put their width sizes into the 'Entry Lowres' program. ====================================== Please take note of the following... ====================================== Tele Title 2 has no reset button for the Main Titles & Names and Cast Names so if you make a mistake you have two choices... 1. Quit the program and start again. 2. Run your mistake sequence. When its finished just press F2 to go back to the Main Menu where everything will be reset. Now start again. If you make a mistake when entering your Cast Names do the following... When you've finished typing in your mistake Cast Names just start again by re-entering the Cast Names Menu. Everything will be reset in this menu. Normally I would have put a reset button in a program like this, just in case you made a typing error, etc, but I decided that because you have the above 2 options plus Save option(s) (I.e Carefully enter your names, etc, once and then save them) there was no point. However, saying the above, I may up-date this version with a reset button inside the menus. I have not disabled the Break key so if you need to exit the program you can use the program's Quit option or press CTRL and C. To exit 'Packer' just press CTRL and C. ================== The best uses... ================== The best use for switching the screen on and off, I think, is when your screen says "The End". For example, leave one of your Main Titles blank and just type the three names for it as spaces. This will simply show a screen saying "The End". So you could do your Titling for the start of your film in the normal way and then use the screen (with your blank title and names) to mark the end of your film. If you leave a Main Title blank you could simply type in the Three names as your Film Title. The best use for adding Main Titles and Names to those you've already loaded in is, if your Mother's calling you (telling you 'ya tea's getting cold') and you're in the middle of typing in your names, Simply save what you've typed in so far, have your cold tea, then come back and continue with your list. ============ Finally... ============ If you have any Questions, Comments, Ideas, etc, feel free to write anytime. You will find my address in the 'ME' Icon. Note: Because I cannot trap every error, I will not take any responsibility for the loss or damage of Titles, Names, Pictures and any other data, etc, caused by any of the programs on this disk.
