12/4/92 Formula One Challenge disk operation instructions ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Formula One Challenge uses the standard AMOS file requester for disk operations so if you are used to AMOS or AMOS programs then you should have no problems with the rather quirky AMOS file requester. Clicking the right mouse button while the disk is not being accessed will display a number of device names (ie C: , Formula-One-Challenge: , L: etc.) clicking on one of these device names with the left button will give you a directory of that device. Saving ~~~~~~ All F1C (Abbreviation for `Formula One Challenge`) saved games are saved with a .FO extension after the file name , this is so you can easily find your F1C saved games on any disk. If you forget to add this youself then it will automatically be added. Do not save on the original F1C disk , but on any formatted disk that does not contain important data. It would be a good idea if before you start playing F1C you format a blank disk and then save all of your F1C games onto this disk. (For instructions on how to format a disk see your Introduction to the Amiga manual supplied with your computer.) ** After saving a F1C game , replace the original F1C disk in DF0: otherwise you may encounter problems at a later stage. Here is a detailed list of how to save your postion in F1C. 1) Format a disk for your saved games using Cli/Shell , Workbench or a formatting utility (See your AmigaDos manual for more details). 2) Play F1C until you wish to save , click on Load/Save off menu , click on save and wait for a full list of the original F1C disk to be displayed and for the disk drive to stop. 3) Swap disks if necessary and insert your blank (newly formatted) disk. Wait a couple of seconds while the disk is checked by the computer. 4) Click the RIGHT mouse button to display a list of devices (ie. C: , DEVS: , Libs: , Formula-One-Challenge:. One of the things in the list should be the name of your blank disk ie. (Empty: , Blank: or whatever you called the disk when you formatted it.) 5) Click the LEFT mouse button on the name of your blank disk and wait a couple of seconds for a list of the files on the disk to be displayed (will probably be empty , but may contain something called TRASHCAN). 6) Click on Game1.FO at the bottom of the requester with the left mouse button and enter a name for your saved game. Then click left button on O.K and your game will be saved to the blank disk. 7) You will be returned to the main menu when the game has saved. 8) When the disk drive light goes out , swap disks if necessary and replace the Original F1C disk. Loading ~~~~~~~ You should load all saved games from a disk other than your original F1C disk and remember that all F1C games have a `.FO` extension to the name so they are easily indentifable. ** Loading is similar to Saving , so please read the detailed saving instructions above. ** After loading a F1C game , replace the original F1C disk in DF0: otherwise you may encounter problems at a later stage.
