DG40 £149.99 Third Coast Technologies ~~~~ ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What is an RGB splitter ? Remember back in issue 2 of Dreamers, I reviewed a few digitisers, namely Digiview and Vidi Amiga. These could only produce black and white images from video. Colour could be achieved when using a black and white video camera on still images, using three plastic lenses, one for each Red, Green and Blue. These were then mixed by the computer to make one final colour picture. There was still one problem, you couldn't produce a colour image from a video. An RGB splitter takes a picture from a colour video camera and splits up the colours into R, G and B electronically, producing a finished colour picture without needing the plastic slides. So with a splitter you can also take a colour picture from video !! Up to now the only cheaply available splitter has been Vidi RGB from Rombo, now Third Coast Technologies from France have produced the DG40 for £149.99.
