Short: CNet Amiga BackUp/LHA Packer Utility! Author: dotoran@bluemoon.net (david weeks) Uploader: dotoran@bluemoon.net (david weeks) Version: 3.01 Type: comm/cnet Replace: aminet/comm/cnet/cnet_backup.lha Requires: AmigaOS 2/3.x, CNet Amiga, v3.05c/4.24h+ Distribution: anywhere, everywhere, please mirror! -- v3.01 -- - This version released February 10, 1997! - Bug Fixes: - There was a bug in the AMAINT module that resulted in only the first backup list to be backed up, even if other lists were present. (Had a variable conflict in there) - Changes: - Added the newer version headers and footers to both the CNetBackUp and the CNetBackUpA files. Now uses smart version variables and the parse source method of smart home path seeking. -- v3.00 -- - This version released January 15, 1997! - Updated for 3.xx/4.xx version CNet Amiga BBS's. - Newer error checking included(with translated MCI-Command codes) - A uit option was added to all "Pick a List" menus. - If a file contained in a backup file is MISSING, it will be skipped when either AMaint or BackUp is performed, instead of resulting in an error message. - If BackUp is performed and there are MISSING files, you'll be shown a listing of these missing files at the end of the BackUp procedure. - If AMaint runs and has missing files, then an email listing of these missing files will be sent to ID # 1. - If AMaint performs a backup, the "log" will be MAILED to SysOp ID # 1. - Requestors are turned OFF while editing the "Destination" field of a listing, so that it doesn't cause a lockup when used from REMOTE. Note that it will only let you specify a Floppy Drive while you have a DISK IN that drive, so even if you have multiple floppy drives, it will only let you specify drives that would be "readily available" at THAT time. - Added the ability to NOT create a second directory structure. If not, the files will be pulled from their parent locations when the backup archive is created. This cuts down on the number of read/write ops that your computer will have to do when creating a backup, not to mention that the resultant archive will be a bit SMALLER, too as well as the entire operation taking only a fraction of the time to complete! - Added the ability to create the archive directly in the destination path, instead of creating it in the "temp/" path, then COPYING it to the destination path. - With the addition of the above feature, the FORMAT operation will now be performed BEFORE the archive is created, so that if the archive is set to be created directly to the destination, and if that happens to be a floppy disk, the disk will still be formatted ahead of time. - Made the DEFAULT temp path point to a "BackUp/" directory which resides in the "CNetAmigaBackUp/" folder, which is why it is now suggested that you STORE this entire program in a partition OTHER than the one where you have your CNET: assigned. - If AMaint is set to create(or copy) a BackUp to a Floppy Drive, and it is seen that there is no floppy IN the drive, the archive will create (or copy) into the "CNetAmigaBackUp/" directory, instead of "cnet:" as was used in v2.00. -- Written by Dotoran of Frontiers -- ============================= Archive contents ============================= Original Packed Ratio Date Time Name -------- ------- ----- --------- -------- ------------- 24955 8247 66.9% 10-Feb-97 17:29:52 +CNetBackUp 76 52 31.5% 15-Jan-97 21:55:32 +CNetBackUp.1ST 177 113 36.1% 10-Feb-97 17:24:10 +CNetBackUp.CFG 472 171 63.7% 15-Jan-97 14:10:28 +CNetBackUp.EXA 5625 2303 59.0% 10-Feb-97 17:34:06 +CNetBackUp_HISTORY! 6005 2358 60.7% 10-Feb-97 17:28:46 +CNetBackUpA 36221 13047 63.9% 10-Feb-97 17:35:10 +CNetBackUp_README! 226 163 27.8% 10-Feb-97 17:31:06 +File_ID.Diz 226 163 27.8% 10-Feb-97 17:31:06 File_ID.Diz -------- ------- ----- --------- -------- 73983 26617 64.0% 12-Feb-97 14:45:46 9 files
