Short: Plays WAV, IFF, MAUD, etc, 14 bit output Author: wenzel@unixserv.rz.fh-hannover.de Uploader: wenzel@unixserv.rz.fh-hannover.de Type: mus/play --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Play16 version 1.5 (02.07.95) - a versatile soundplayer for the Amiga -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Features in brief ----------------- - autodetects and plays several soundfiles, up to 16 bit / 56 kHz / stereo - full Workbench support (but not Intuition and no GUI) - always correct playback speed, even for sounds >28 kHz - realtime playback from harddisk, optimized assembler routines - optional 14 bit output (less noise but not as good as true 16 bit) - automatic or manual audio filter control - plays mono sounds on *both* channels, not only on the left one - plays (and loops) files that are larger than memory - preloading for exactly timed start of playback - fast uLaw decompression - system friendly audio channel allocation - optionally dump the output into a file (can be used to convert sounds) - supported Filetypes are: * Microsoft RIFF-WAVE (.WAV) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear / uLaw * Creative Voice File (.VOC) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear * Sun/NeXT Audio (.AU) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear / uLaw * MacroSystem MAUD (.MAUD) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear / uLaw * Apple/SGI/Amiga AIFF (.AIFF) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear * Amiga IFF-8SVX (.IFF) mono / stereo, 8 bit, linear / FibDelta * Any raw sound data as long as it matches one of the following: - 8 bit signed - 8 bit unsigned - 16 bit signed, Intel format (LSB first) - 16 bit signed, Motorola format (MSB first) - supported output devices are: * Native Amiga chipset (Paula) 8 bit * Native Amiga chipset (Paula) 14 bit * Native Amiga chipset (Paula) 14 bit calibrated (Christian Buchner) * MacroSystem Maestro Pro 16 bit 44.1kHz and 48kHz only * IFF-8SVX file dump 8 bit What's new since V1.4? ---------------------- V1.5 - Fixed a bug that caused enforcer hits when running Play16 from cli - Changed the depth of Play16's productivity screen to 1 bitplane to reduce CPU- and DMA-load - "Play16 " now opens a filerequester pointing to the specified path. The new PATH tooltype does the same. - Fixed mono playback of raw tracks. Thanks to Christian Buchner. - uLaw decompression for MAUD, too - Fibonacci Delta decompression for 8SVX, thanks to Ralph Wermke for the specs. --------------------------------- In German ------------------------------- Kurzübersicht ------------- - erkennt und spielt automatisch verschiedene Soundformate, bis zu 16 Bit, 56 kHz, stereo - volle Workbench-Unterstützung, jedoch kein GUI - immer korrekte Wiedergabegeschwindigkeit, sogar bei Sounds >28 kHz - Echtzeitwiedergabe von Festplatte, optimierte Assembler-Routinen - 14 Bit Ausgabe möglich (weniger Rauschen, aber schlechter als 16 Bit) - automatische oder manuelle Filter-Kontrolle - spielt Mono-Sounds auf BEIDEN Kanälen, nicht nur auf dem linken - spielt (und wiederholt) Files, die größer als der Speicher sind - Vorlade-Funktion für Tastengenaues Playback-Starten - schnelle uLaw Entpackfunktion - Systemfreundliche Tonkanal-Belegung - Ausgabe in ein File ist möglich (Sound-Konvertierung) - unterstützte Filetypen bislang: * Microsoft RIFF-WAVE (.WAV) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear / uLaw * Creative Voice File (.VOC) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear * Sun/NeXT Audio (.AU) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear / uLaw * MacroSystem MAUD (.MAUD) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear / uLaw * Apple/SGI/Amiga AIFF (.AIFF) mono / stereo, 8 / 16 bit, linear * Amiga IFF-8SVX (.IFF) mono / stereo, 8 bit, linear * Raw-Sound-Daten mit mindestens einer folgender Voraussetzungen: - 8 bit Vorzeichenbehaftet - 8 bit nicht Vorzeichenbehaftet - 16 bit signed, Intel Format (LSB zuerst) - 16 bit signed, Motorola Format (MSB zuerst) - derzeitig unterstützte Ausgabegeräte: * Amiga (Paula) 8 bit * Amiga (Paula) 14 bit * Amiga (Paula) 14 bit kalibriert (Christian Buchner) * MacroSystem Maestro Pro 16 bit 44.1kHz und 48kHz * IFF-8SVX File Ausgabe 8 bit ============================= Archive contents ============================= Original Packed Ratio Date Time Name -------- ------- ----- --------- -------- ------------- 632 279 55.8% 02-Jul-95 22:44:02 Play16_1.5.info 1233 595 51.7% 21-Jun-95 21:42:34 +CyberSound.info 3719 1809 51.3% 02-Apr-95 00:03:46 +14bit.Doc 1096 488 55.4% 27-Apr-95 15:33:50 +14bit.Doc.info 4274 2118 50.4% 02-Apr-95 00:05:08 +14bit.Dok 1096 490 55.2% 27-Apr-95 15:33:50 +14bit.Dok.info 12300 6739 45.2% 01-Apr-95 21:56:02 +14Bit_Calibration 2211 826 62.6% 27-Apr-95 15:33:50 +14Bit_Calibration.info 1233 723 41.3% 27-Apr-95 15:33:50 +Presets.info 256 218 14.8% 29-Mar-95 16:11:12 +Flowerpower's_Calibration 529 274 48.2% 29-Mar-95 16:13:00 +Flowerpower's_Calibration.info 49024 25594 47.7% 02-Jul-95 23:23:20 +Play16 48508 25370 47.6% 02-Jul-95 23:13:48 +Play16'040 21866 8840 59.5% 02-Jul-95 23:31:40 +Play16.doc 468 227 51.4% 21-Jun-95 21:42:34 +Play16.doc.info 19237 8013 58.3% 02-Jul-95 23:25:42 +Play16.dok 468 233 50.2% 21-Jun-95 21:42:34 +Play16.dok.info 1066 684 35.8% 02-Jul-95 18:44:56 +Play16.info 4457 1758 60.5% 02-Jul-95 23:25:44 +Play16.readme 468 233 50.2% 21-Jun-95 21:42:34 +Play16.ReadMe.info -------- ------- ----- --------- -------- 174141 85511 50.8% 03-Jul-95 09:14:44 20 files
