Short: Boot with 1.3 Kickstart on newer machines Type: util/misc Uploader: lewis@gto.jsc.nasa.gov What is Kick1.3? Well it allows all those people with 2.x and 3.x of AmigaDOS to get back some compatibility with older programs. AmigaDOS 1.3 is arguably the most compatible of the various incarnations out there, and many games that fail on the AGA machines can be brought back to life with this program. If you have 1.x of AmigaDOS you won't need this program. To use Kick1.3, you must convert this program back into binary. First UUDECODE this file, then use DMS's WRITE option to place the program onto a blank disk. Reset your machine, place the disk in df0: The disk will run and the Kickstart files copied into RAM. When the message All Operations Okay - Kicking Up appears, the screen will flash grey as the machine reboots, remove the disk from the drive. (DO NOT KEEP THE DISK IN THE DRIVE, THE PROGRAM *WILL NOT* WORK!!!). If the program has run successfully, you will get the KickStart 1.3 prompt. This program does *NOT* emulate the Workbench, if you have a program that boots from Workbench, you will need a copy of Workbench 1.3 (which IS the copyright Commodore). LEGAL NOTICE. This program has been produced in agreement with Commodore, it was distributed on the cover of CU Amiga magazine and *IS* PD.
