Short: MetaFont 2.71 font generator for TeX. Type: text/tex Uploader: Andreas Scherer Author: Donald E. Knuth This is the latest version 2.71 of MetaFont, released by Don Knuth in July 1993 with the advise to `update everything ASAP,' adapted for the Commodore Amiga. The complete system was brought to this new version, including the plain base and the TRAP test for debugging (not included in this package). MetaFont is the name of a highly portable computer font generation system that reads text files prepared with `programs' which specify the outline of characters in fonts of type, graphical symbols, or other elements for printing high quality documents. Typesetting systems like TeX make use of the font metric information produced by MetaFont and printer drivers or screen previewers make use of the pixel information as to where to put the `ink.' The package contains all programs necessary for ready-to-go installation of the MetaFont system. Included is the complete Computer Modern font library and the fonts for the MetaFont logo, also by Don Knuth. There are two versions of the IniMF and VirMF programs, suitable for standard Amigas with and without 680X0 acceleration and coprocessors. A 16-page documentation in English and German fully describes all details of the package. This Amiga port was done and completely tested with SAS/C++ version 6.50 and has passed the TRAP test gracefully so that it may be called MetaFont.
