This way the authors knows that there is somebody out there who uses his program. REQUIREMENTS Any Amiga® (compatible) computer with at least OS3. DESCRIPTION RndWbPix is a small program that provides random backdrop pictures for your wbscreen, wbwindow and drawer windows. It runs from the startup-sequence each reboot and picks (a) random picture(s) from the specified directory/ies. INSTALLATION 1. Copy RndWbPix to your C: directory. 2. Next edit the file s:startup-sequence and add the follow- ing line somewhere BEFORE C:IPrefs C:RndWbPix where ROOTPATH is the directory that you have your back- drop pictures for your wbwindow in eg. SYS:Prefs/Backdrops DRAWERPATH is the same as ROOTPATH, except that this option specifies the directory where you have stored the pictures for the drawer windows. SCREENPATH is the directory where you have stored your back- drops for the wbscreen. Examples: C:RndWbPix SYS:Prefs/Backdrops RndWbPix changes each boot up the picture for your wbwin. C:RndWbPix SYS:Prefs/Backdrops SCREENPATH SYS:Prefs/Scrbdrops Same as above but the wbscreen backdrop is also changed. C:RndWbPix DRAWERPATH SYS:Prefs/Backdrops RndWbPix changes only the backdrops of the drawer windows each reboot. The '|' sign can be used to specify more than one path for each PATH option. For example: ROOTPATH=Art:images/woods|Art:images/houses Setting the INORDER (abrev. IO) option tells RndWBPix to select the pictures in order of their appearance in the drawer instead of random order. 3. Save the changes :-) TIPS - When FastIPrefs by H.W. Schober is installed, the picture display doesn't need to start at the upper left corner. It may be centered or split up centered. Starting 39.2 of RndWBPix each picture can have its own placement setting (keywords: TILE,LEFT,CENTER,FILL. Use spaces to combine them!). RndWBPix reads this setting from the filecomment. For example, if you want to have a picture centered on the display, simply use the following command line: C:FileNote APicture CENTER This will set the comment of "APicture" to "CENTER". NOTE TO OS3.5 USERS: IPrefs v44 supports the CENTER option. The default placement can be specified via the RA=ROOTALIGNMENT/K, DA=DRAWERALIGNMENT/K,SA=SCREENALIGNMENT/K commandline options. - When you change the contents of your picture drawers, you need to rebuild the index. This can be done by deleting the RndWBPix.index file found in the picture drawer(s) or by invoking RndWBPix with the BUILDINDEX (abrev. BI) option set. If you have an Amiga with a battery backed-up clock, simply add AUTOBUILDINDEX or ABI to your c:RndWbPix line. This tells RndWbPix to recreate the index file when the drawer contents has changed. NOTE: By default, subdrawers are ignored. The ALL option can be used to change this. TECHNICAL Each time you start RndWbPix it modifies the file ENV:sys/wbpattern.prefs. The ENVARC: file stays untouched. HISTORY 37.0 first public release 37.1 small rework, added os3 version (= 39.1) 39.2 rewrote most parts. implemented index function for fast directory scanning. added support for some FastIPrefs specific features (placement of pictures). 39.3 implemented INORDER option . Fixed a very old bug if one of the picture drawers had subdrawers, there was a chance that RndWBPix told IPrefs to use the drawer as backdrop (which doesn't work;). When at least two of the three PATH options were set to the same drawer, the program didn't really calculate a random number. 39.4 each PATH option can accept more than one path, now. scans sub- drawers when ALL option is used in conjunction with BUILDINDEX . 39.5 added ABI=AUTOBUILDINDEX/S,RA=ROOTALIGNMENT/K,DA=DRAWERALIGNMENT /K and SA=SCREENALIGNMENT/K options. reads the ENV: file instead of the ENVARC: one, again.
