When upgrading from earlier versions of Miami please observe the following things: Do NOT try to install Miami manually. You should use the enclosed installation scripts, or strange things may happen... Previous versions of Miami needed MUI 3.5 or higher. Miami 3.x needs MUI 3.8 (muimaster.library V18) or higher. This means if you are using MUI 3.7 or lower then you need to upgrade your MUI installation first. If you have already registered Miami 3.0 then there is NO additional upgrade necessary. Your existing keyfiles will work with Miami 3.2. If you have already registered Miami version 1 or 2, but not Miami 3.x, then you probably have keyfile versions 1 or 2. These older keyfiles will not work with Miami 3.x, i.e. Miami will fall back to unregistered mode after installation. After installing Miami 3.x now you can upgrade your keyfile, and Miami will automatically return to registered mode. Note that in Miami 3.x there are no separate programs for unregistered and registered users. The same program binary can be used by everyone. Conditions for upgrading from Miami V1/2 to Miami V3. - If you registered Miami after June 15th, 1997 then the upgrade to 3.x is free of charge for you. - If you registered Miami before June 15th, 1997 then you need to buy an upgrade code. Upgrade codes are available from some registration sites and directly from Nordic Global Inc. If you order directly from us then the upgrade fee is US$ 12.00. The fee other reg. sites charge varies. This version of Miami *absolutely needs* the "Miami:" assign. In earlier versions this assign was only recommended, but in 3.x it is required. The Installer script sets it automatically for you, if it does not already exist. If you used MUI functions to iconify the Miami window on startup then you need to disable these functions in MUI settings NOW, before installation. In MUI preferences, on the "System" page deselect all three checkmarks in the "Iconification" group. You will find similar functions in Miami on the GUI page that you should use instead. Miami now has its own settings for iconify, AppMenus, AppIcons etc., and the setting in MUI conflicts with that. With Miami 3.x you have the choice to use other user interface engines instead of MUI. Currently available are: - MUI: standard MUI look, using MUI >=3.8. - MUIMWB: MUI look, using MUI 3.8, but with additional images. Requires 8-color screens. - GTLayout: GadTools gadgets created with gtlayout.library. Requires gtlayout.library V40 or higher (included in the archive). - ClassAct: ClassAct look. New versions of ClassAct (those distributed as OS 3.5 or later) are VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED with this user module.
