FORGET IT!!! @endnode @node Beat "The Beat® goes on..." If you haven't spent the last few months on Mars, you should know that the Swiss watchmaker Swatch® has made the 2nd attempt to re-define the unit of time (the 1st attempt was during the French revolution) with the Beat®, a timezone-less unit that defines the length of a day as 1000 Beats®. So 12 p.m. in Switzerland is @500, but also @500 in Tokyo and @500 in New York etc... @{b}IMPORTANT@{ub} the @{"TZ" link TZ} ENV-variable has to be set to the right value! @endnode @node TZ "The timezones" The ENV:TZ variable must start with your timezone as 3 letter code + @{b}negative@{ub} offset from GMT in a @{b}POSIX compliant format@{ub} @{u}<- Changed!@{uu} Valid formats are: GMT+0 (Speaks for itself) CET-1 MET-1 (Western and Central Europe) CDT-2 ( "" Daylight saving time) PDT+8 (If you're Steve Ballmer ;) @endnode @node Usage "If you order now, all extra options are absolutely free of charge!" You can still run this version like the old one, (without arguments) but the real fun starts with the new options :-) Well Jim, if I type @{b}Beet ONCE@{ub}, what cool exiting thing will happen? Mike, that's a really neat option for simple scripts and the like. It prints out the .beat time once and exits without any tricks and hassle within just milliseconds! I'm pretty amazed Jim, but @{b}Beet WAIT@{ub} has two options of it's own: @{b}Beet WAIT 5@{ub} will wait until the .beat time is devideble by 5 and @{b}Beet WAIT @123@{ub} is a .beat equivalent to @{u}Wait UNTIL=12:23@{uu}!!! Mike, you forgot to metion @{b}Beet ENV@{ub}, the new and powerful option that creates and updates the ENV-variable @{u}BEAT@{uu}! Just as a special request by one of our many happy costumers!!! And don't forget, Jim, this one-time offer can be stopped at any time, simply by pressing Ctrl-C, isn't that great!!! @{i}Commercial Presentation@{ui} @endnode @node History "Long time ago, on an A1200/060 far away..."
