Home wine making recipe and record filesystem ============================================= Version 2.12 ------------ Tested with Kickstart 1.3, 2.0 & 3.0 - 1 Meg required DISCLAIMER ========== This software is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. All use is at your own risk, we will not accept responsibility for any loss of data etc. In particular, we accept no responsibility for wines (using included recipes or otherwise) not turning out as you would like them to, or causing illness. Your attention is drawn to the following known bugs: In HWM_RView, cancel the insert disk requester causes the program to lock up In HWMR&RFS, you can save files which have been loaded as R/R or IFF in ASCII format - although the file will almost certainly be blank. After editing a recipe, saving in ASCII format may not work properly. Solution: Edit the file in a text editor, or re-type the ENTIRE line when editing Getting Started =============== IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ ----------------------- First format a disk and name it "Saved" (It doesn't matter what computer you formatted it for, as long as you have an amiga program that can read the disks!) - This is for saving future recipes and record cards. If you are not installing this to hard drive, please assign "Wine_Utility:" to the drawer containing the program. »»» COPY THE FILE HWM.KEY OVER TO S: ««« You can distribute the main file, "Recipe&Record" and "HWM_RView", but only if accompanied with this document. Any other files can be distributed freely, or according to the instructions file attached to them. Make sure you select the right file format (or Auto) before loading! If you don't, the program will return to Workbench. Not quite so important stuff ---------------------------- After you've done that, boot up with any disk, and double-click on the Recipe&Record icon on this disk to load the program. If a Sorry! 1 Meg. required message appears, either buy a memory expansion, or, if you already have one, conserve as much memory as you can by booting with an original workbench disk, and not running any other programs at the same time. Also, if you boot with this disk, the flushlibs item in the " " or Debug menu may help to conserve memory, and so may ResetWB in the Tools menu (Workbench 2.0+) It is a good idea to click on the instructions icon, for detailed instructions on how to use the program. Editing HWM Ascii Files - Important Note! ======================= Editing Ascii files from within HWM may not work properly! If you chose to edit them with a text editor instead, then make sure it will either: a) Keep Carriage Returns AND Line Feeds (CR/LF) b) Save in CR/LF (PC/ST) format Note that MEmacs will keep the codes, whereas Ed will not! Installing on your hard drive ============================= Boot up with your hard drive, insert this disk, and click once on the R&R_HDInstallerV2.2 icon, hold down Shift and Double-click on the Hard disk partition you want HWMR&RFS installed in. If you want it in a directory in the HD Partition, DO NOT double-click on the directory - instead, double-click on the partition icon, and, when finished, drag the (new) Wine_Util drawer icon into the directory you want it in. PLEASE NOTE that HWMR&RFS will not ask for any disks if you have installed it on your hard drive correctly. Assigns will automatically be made upon running the program. If you decide to install it yourself (just dump all the files in one directory), make sure you copy across the HWM.Key Keyfile, found in S:. Note that Wine_Utility: and Saved: need to be assigned to the HWM drawer. I apologise for not using Installer, but originally wrote this program/script years ago, and since it worked, I didn't see the need to change it. That's also why this is an ordinary text file, and not an AmigaGuide. History ======= VERSION 1.01 - First "didn't get released" release -------------------------------------------------- It wasn't very good either, every time you clicked on something you got blank orange screens, and sometimes the menus at the top of the screen disappeared! (We did send it off to Blitterchips, but didn't hear anything. I hope they haven't distributed it!) VERSION 1.02 - First "released" release --------------------------------------- Corrected the orange screens and the disappearing menus, plus a couple of other bugs I found (the large menus disappearing and then appearing again, two bell sounds, the pointer disappearing at the wrong time etc...) I also put a HDInstaller program on the disk, which needed either 1 or 1.5 megs of RAM, depending on the mood it was in! VERSION 1.1 - Second release ---------------------------- Added the disk menu (automatic directory creating, file delete, R/R -> IFF, for people with printers). Added Degrader, to hopefully allow compatibility with 1.2/1.3 NTSC amigas. Upgraded R&R_HDInstaller so that it can copy even if you've got less memory than HWMR&RFS requires! It now installs anywhere. And I hope you liked BetterBootScreen V1 - Version 2 out soon! (NOT) (That was on the Shareware version, not the registered one.) VERSION 1.21 - NOT released as PD --------------------------------- This was V1.11, but I added an option, so I thought I'd better name it V1.2, anyway, that doesn't really matter. Added my special script to ForcePAL with WB2.0+ so WB2.0+ NTSC users should be able to use this program. Removed the "Warning sign" from the disk menu, it now detects that you haven't got the directory, and creates it when saving. There is a new option, which hasn't really got a name, it's in the disk menu, and has a picture of a printer with the words "A printer (I think!)" written on it. I call this option "Print-as-you-type", because when it's on, it sends each line to the printer after pressing Enter (or Return). BetterBootScreen Version 2 should be out by the time you read this - look out for it! (Actually it was Version 1.1 - On Spidersoft Utils Disk) VERSION 1.22 ------------ Not much change from above - added greater printer support by sending the wine-making docs to the printer if "Print-as-you-type" is on, and sending "About" information to the printer when selecting the menu option. Version 1.23 - Not released as PD --------------------------------- The disk menu now contains "Load", "Save" and "Delete" instead of various printer options. The printer options have been moved to the menus at the top of the screen, and the program no longer asks you if you want to save - it compresses the screen, and if you want to save it you have to select save either from the project menu at the top of the screen or the disk menu. Also, you have to load before you click on view - this gives you the chance to view a recipe or record you have just created before saving it. Sorry about the Version No error - it should have been 1.3! Version 1.31 ------------ New option - Edit recipe/record allows you to edit previously saved recipes/records. Thanks go to Mr D W Bennett for that idea. Version 1.32 ------------ A couple of bug fixes ... that's all ... Sorry if you wanted something more! Version 1.33 ------------ (Very) minor update. A Couple of bug-fixes so I could (at last) get the program to compile. Version 2.0 ----------- Major update. New features: * The menus now have a 3D "Workbench 2 Look" and generally look 100 times better than the old menus. * The Disk menu now includes the printer options as well. * The edit and add options now have their own menus. * The recipe and record cards may not look as good, but the reason for changing them was for quicker compression and easier printing. This also means the files are much smaller (2K vs 10K). * You now click on the line to edit * The title screen has been tidied up. * All files are now contained within the program, to make for easier HD installation. * And a few other (more minor) changes and bug-fixes Generally, nearly every part of the program has been changed. Version 2.1 ----------- Minor Update, added these features: * New format - ASCII * Save in different formats (IFF, R/R, ASCII) * Load different formats (See above) * ASCII files are printed when clicking on "view" * Convert has been removed * Rename option added Version 2.11 ------------ Keyfile Update! Added Keyfiles for registered owners - now you can upgrade when you want to Yes, that is the only new feature. I fixed a couple of annoying bugs as well. You can now hit escape when a disk request appears to cancel the operation. Version 2.12 ------------ Added Automatic file format detection, and fixed some bugs. Updated installation script, so assigns are done automatically. HWM_RView now handles IFF, R/R and ASCII formats (automatically). Thanks to ... ============= 17 Bit Software for including our programs in their library. (and any other PD library which has done the same...) Alan Mark for helping me with ideas and testing it as well. Everyone who sent in their registration fee. Various other people for making the tea/coffee etc. NOTE: This is no longer shareware! (at the moment...) ================================== Thanks go to everyone who registered (yes, all five of you). This particular version is FREELY DISTRIBUTABLE. I have included a keyfile (The keyfile system on this is pathetic, anyway), which will work on this version, and some (well, one) previous versions as well. It probably will NOT work on future versions, if there are any. I figured that since I'm unlikely to write any more versions of this, then everyone may as well have a free copy. If I do release any more, then registered users will have to contact me to obtain a new keyfile. Contact: Chris Young, via e-mail only please! (sorry, but most people at least know someone who can send e-mails, and its a helluva lot easier for me.) To: unsatisfactory@bigfoot.com Yes, I know that seems strange, but it's because the name 'Spidersoft' has really ceased to be used by me. Just humour me, OK? Oh, you can visit my website if you like. You can enter via the Unsatisfactory Software page: http://www.bigfoot.com/~unsatisfactory/ And there are more Spidersoft Shareware programs (also upgraded to Freeware) in the FTP directory on that site; http://www.bigfoot.com/~unsatisfactory/ftp/ssoft/ *** PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ADDRESS GIVEN IN THE PROGRAM IS MY OLD ADDRESS *** I WILL NOT RECIEVE MAIL SENT THERE!
