Games like Knightlore, Robin Of The Wood and Dun Darach inspired me greatly but at the time there was no easy to learn programming language that I could use to create my own. Then there was the hardware limitations - cassette loading, dodgy keyboard, you know the score. Then Blitz 2.1 landed on my doorstep. I would never be the same again. For the first time there was a language I could easily learn, that was powerful enough for me to make the game I always wanted. It wasn`t all roses, though. I had planned to do a Secret Of Mana type game but due to hardware and Blitz limitations I had to settle for an arcade/adventure. But at least I have done things in the game that no one has done on the Amiga yet. I`m just hoping that the new version of Blitz, that Leading Edge are currently working on, has support for faster processors, graphics cards, higher Shape limits, so I can take my dream further. By the way... Welcome to the world of KAK! ;---------------------------------------------------- HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS A1200 + FAST RAM (I have not tested it on any other setup) ;---------------------------------------------------- STORY-LINE No one knows where KAK came from. As a young child he was found wandering around the giant dung mountain next to the village of HAT. A kind, old dung warden, called SORE, took pity on the boy and took him in. As no one knew where the boy came from, the old man adopted him and named him KAK. The next few years were the happiest of KAK`s life, until one day, while playing on the dung heap with his friends from the village a secret power, that had lain dormant, awoke inside him. By accident, he found that he could magically command dung to do his bidding. The other boys ran away in terror. Soon, the whole village shunned KAK and more bad news followed... SORE, who had been a father to KAK, was killed in a dung avalanche a few days later. The village elder, KARP, a mean old man, was obliged to take KAK in but like the rest of the village he was very scared of his dung powers. He was also jealous of KAK`s mysterious ability and despised him for it. So it was no surprise that when KARP heard that there was a job vacancy at Paxton Castle for a serf-in-waiting, KAK was sent straight away. KAK is all alone now, travelling to a castle that he knows nothing about. What will KAK find when he gets there? Will KAK discover who he really is and why he blessed with strange powers? That`s where you come in... ----------------------------------------------------- GAME CONTROLS MEGA DUNG FIRE POWER Basic shot: Press FIRE repeatedly and quickly. This shot has the lowest power. Power shot: Providing your dung magic level allows it (certain objects in the game will increase this), keep holding FIRE down to build up the shots power. Then release the FIRE button. TALKING The character in question must be friendly towards KAK (ie not shooting KAK!) Face the character squarely (The TALK graphic must be in the score-bar window). Keep the joystick pressed towards the character and press FIRE. While talking, press FIRE to move the conversation on. PICKING UP OBJECTS Touch the object, facing it. When the object appears in the scorebar window - press FIRE. The object will then go into the object inventory. ACCESS OBJECT INVENTORY Press the SPACEBAR while in play. Move around the inventory using the joystick. The ZERO key on the keypad will let you move to the next object compartment. Press FIRE to select an object. The SPACEBAR will get you back into the game. DROPPING OBJECTS The LEFT,DOWN and RIGHT arrow keys correspond to the three object positions on the scorebar. Pressing one of these while there is an object in the slot will drop it onto the ground. Objects cannot be dropped on any solid features like hedges or benches. GOING BACK TO THE TITLES, WHILE IN PLAY Pressing the ESCAPE key will make the game go back to the title screen. QUITING THE GAME Pressing the F10 key while on the titles will quit the game and return you back to Workbench. ;---------------------------------------------------- THE FUTURE OF KAK There is no way that I can make a commercial product on my own. If would be too much work for one person. If I WAS persuaded to start development, this is what I would need: ONE An Amiga publisher with a good deal to offer me. TWO A good graphic artist and a good musician/sound FX artist, both with drive and a love of Action RPG`s like the stunning Secret Of Mana. THREE An updated version of Blitz, (lets face it - it needs it) with support for faster processors, graphics cards (and higher shape limits!). Come on Leading Edge, I know you can do it.
