Full Time --------- Football Results Prediction System © Andrew Faulkner 1997 This program is ShareWare About Full Time --------------- Full Time is a football results prediction program for the Amiga. It predicts both wins and draws and can be used to help pick teams for fixed odds betting, or as a pools prediction program. It predicts the outcome of each match, and rates the most likely results, using a '*' system. Likely draws are shown with a 'D' FullTime's functionality is limited until the program has been registered. It will not predict the results of the English or Scottish Premiership, and outputing the results to a printer is disabled. It will allow you to enter the fixtures of every division, and update the results, allowing you to keep all the data up to date, if you are thinking of registering it. Full Time is Shareware ---------------------- If you like the program, please register it. Once your payment is received, a key will be sent to you, unlocking the disabled parts of the program. Registration costs £10 UK (cash or cheque), or $20 US (cash only). Just send your payment (cheques made payable to A. J. Faulkner) to the address listed below. Don't forget to send me your EMail address as the key will be sent out by Email, if you don't have an EMail address, the key will be sent out in the post. Customise If you register the program, you will need to run this program to input the registration key. Data Directory containing all the data on the leagues and teams Fixtures Directory where all the fixture files are stored There are also a few other files, in the main directory without Icons. If you copy the program to a different directory, make sure you copy these files too. Using Full Time --------------- When the program is run, you are presented with a menu with the following options: 1..... Update Results 2..... Enter Fixtures 3..... Load Fixtures off Disk 4..... Forecast Results 5..... Team Statistics 6..... Change Division Information 7..... Start New Season (Promote/Relegate/Add Teams) 9..... End Program Update Results -------------- Use this option to update the database with the results of the matches you predicted. Just enter the score against each team name. Click 'OK' when all the scores for the current division have been entered, the fixtures for the next division will then be displayed. If you make a mistake, you can use the mouse to click on a team and re-enter a score. If a result is not known, just press enter to skip the fixture. It can be entered later. Enter Fixtures -------------- Before you can make any predictions you must enter the fixtures. You will be presented with the list of teams in the current division. Repeatedly clicking on first the home team, then the away team, enter your fixtures. If you make a mistake, click on the fixture, and you will be given the option to cancel the fixture, putting the teams back into the team list. When you have entered all the fixtures for that division, use the pull down menu to select a different division. And when all the fixtures have been entered, click on 'All Done'. Load Fixtures off Disk ---------------------- Use this option to load into memory fixtures which you've previously entered and now wish to forecast or update the results Forecast Results --------------- Once you've entered some fixtures, or loaded them in off disk, you can then forecast the results. You are given the option to see the results on screen, printed, or both. The program will make a prediction for every fixture you entered, but only the results marked with a '*' or 'D' should be considered as reliable. Team Statistics --------------- This option allows you to view the statistics of a team. Use the pull down menu to change division. Change Division Information --------------------------- This option allows you to change the division names, and tell the program where teams should be promoted or relegated to. If a division does not have Promotion or relegation, put a '0' in the relevant field. Start New Season (Promote/Relegate/Add Teams) --------------------------------------------- Use this option at the end of a season. Teams can be promoted, relegated, or a new team entered into a division. This option must only be used at the end of a season as it resets all the games played for each team to zero. FullTime's accuracy increases as more data is input. It does not carry over all the data from the previous season, so for the first few weeks, it's predictions will not be so accurate. It really needs at least 4 weeks worth of data, before it can be used as a prediction system. End Program ----------- You should be able to work this option out yourself. Using The Program With Other Leagues ------------------------------------ Full time is set up to predict the results of the English and Scottish football leagues. It can be used with any league as long as each division has 30 or less teams, and there are 8 or less divisions. If you wish to set up a different league, first delete all the files in the Data directory (or rename the directory and make a new 'Data' Directory). Next, run the program and choose option 'Change Division Information', and input the names of the divisions, and promotion and relegation routes. Then, choose 'Start New Season'. You can then enter the team names for each division (using the pull down menu to change divisions). You do not need to enter the teams in alphabetical order, the program will do that once you have finished entering teams. You can now start using FullTime with your chosen league. The accuracy rate will increase as you input more data. It's best to allow at least 4 weeks worth of data to build up before you start using the program to forecast results.
