MagnifiCAD - a ShareWare drafting package for the Amiga. -------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.1 (C)1995-96 by Anders Granli, released 23.01.96 -------------------------------------------------------------------- This UNREGISTERED VERSION is restricted to 5 layers and 100 elements for a drawing. Also, the DXF export option is not available. You can register the program and get the full version without these limits and with free upgrade to the next version available. But now, Enjoy! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction ------------ Welcome to MagnifiCAD. MagnifiCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) program, which allows you to produce drawings in 2D with the help of a variety of tools. Features: o Full Intuition GUI with online help for all functions. o 10 different drawing tools. o Line Styles, Hatching, Colors. o Unlimited number of Layers. o Unlimited number of entities in each layer. o Supports .DXF files for easy exchange of data with other programs. o Symbols. New in version 1.1: + Polycurve drawing tool. + Topological levels (element, line, point). + Mirror tool. + Color and Depth Settings. + Better printing. + faster input handling. + many other small improvements. System Requirements ------------------- MagnifiCAD requires: o An Amiga with WorkBench 3.0 or above, preferrably with a 68020 processor. o 1MB free memory. The size of the projects is limited only by how much free memory you have in your Amiga. MagnifiCAD should run ok on any Amiga with the right WorkBench version. It will use a math co-processor if one is available, but it is not required. Installation ------------ An Installer script is included in this directory. Just double-click on the Install icon from Workbench, and follow the instructions. This release includes a 68000 version along with the 68020 version. The Installer script checks your processor and installs the right version of MagnifiCAD. There have been some problems getting the program to start when the right monitor driver haven't been available. If it doesn't start, try using the PAL Monitor Driver to start it, and then change the setup in the ScreenMode selection in the program. Copyrights ---------- MagnifiCAD is (C)1995-96 Anders Granli. Limitations and Bugs -------------------- MagnifiCAD is limited to drawing in 2D (drafting), but shall be extended to 3D drawing when the 2D version is stable and works well. Not implemented yet (sorry!): o The Enclosure Mode. o Line Weight. Known bugs (the BAD ones should really be fixed soon!): o BAD: The program is causing Enforcer hits sometimes at startup. o BAD: Printing a drawing results in a memory leak. o The program loses some memory each time it is run (3536 bytes). MemLib can't find it! o When creating a new layer in the layer requester, the new layer is not highlighted (GadTools problem?). o If the user zooms in many times, the screen update gets distorted. (Also happens with hatching). o Rubberbanding not correct when entering coordinates by numbers. o Panning doesn't work correctly in the middle of a drawing operation. Next Version ------------ Something of the things to do for the next version is: o ARexx support! o More printing options (landscape printing), and possibly strip printing to save some chip mem. o All tools mentioned in the manual implemented (oh yeah!). History (not much...) --------------------- Version Date Description 1.0 01.06.95 First version, restricted to 2D drawing. Too many bugs. 1.1 23.01.96 Added better printing, color & depth settings, scale tool, topological levels, etc. Added keyboard support in requesters. General cleanup and improvement.
