The CRUISERs develop an effective strategy for battling
the MCCOYs in a randomly vegetated environment.

They run a little bit faster than the MCCOYs, and attack
them persistently from behind.

Notice that this energy-intensive adaptation ceases
to be appropriate once the MCCOYs are defeated, and the
CRUISERs adapt by slowly reducing their metabolism.
This occurs because CRUISERs are competing with each
other.  The ones with lower metabolisms tend to
spawn more.  (It takes many thousand time ticks for
this effect to become visible.)
