Here are some last minute changes to the program. 1. When running in the MPE, RIGHT click on MENU will get you to KCS. With KCS's dated March 16, 1988 or later, holding down Alternate while going back will go directly to a second MPE program if one exists. 2. You can play the next note of a paused line by clicking on P on the line row. 3. MIDI merge can be disabled from the Options screen. 4. Restore Last Start also sets the line ikon locations to their starting values. You can thus change the start locations for the ikons by selecting Restore Last Start, making any changes with the right mouse, and selecting Reset Starts. The folders MUSICJJ contains example files developed by Jim Johnson. MUSICDRT contain example files developed by Dr. T. If you use these files to create sequences for use in KCS, be sure that the steps per beat setting in KCS matches that in the example. For each .FIN file, there is a corresponding .DOC file with a description. Dr. T's files are a lot more complex (and more abstract) than Jim Johnson's. MUSICDRT also contains a file of percussive TX81Z files. All of the examples use a TX81Z, with these sounds, on channels 3, 4, 5, and 6. These sounds will be more expressive if you have a slider or foot pedal that can send breath controller messages. This will modify the timbre of the sounds for more expressive playing. Copies of the program dated 6/14/88 and after contain MIDI merge disable as a toggle switch on the Options page. Restore last start now also sets the line ikons to their starting locations. You can use the following procedure to edit the starting locations. 1. Do a Start, and then go to the menu and click on Restore Last Start. 2. Make the desired changes. 3. Go to the menu and click on Reset Starts. TIMING NOTE Fingers has a lot of work to do, including computation and screen updates. If you really push it, it won't be able to keep up. Even without pushing the limits of the program, you may encounter timing errors of a few milliseconds which you may perceive as changes in 'feel'. Fingers has been modified so that the sequencer files that it saves will be considerably more accurate thanm Fingers itself plays in real-time. This may cause you to perceive a slight difference between the music played by Fingers itself and the music played by KCS when it plays back a Fingrs sequence. Timing can be improved considerably if you PAUSE any lines that you intend to keep muted for the entire piece.
