Here is a Calamus document file to help you print envelopes on the SLM-804. It may be of use on other laser printers. To use it, load the document, change the return address and the addressee. The frame on the top left is useful for ATTN: messages as shown, or any other message you need. The "Magnetic Media" frame is also useful for "First Class," "Hand Cancel," or whatever need to be said in such a way as to catch your friendly postman's eye. I uploaded this as a document rather than a layout because of the odd paper size. Load the SLM driver, and choose 4.13 by 9.5 for a standard sized envelope. Remember to select manual feed. Feed the envelope with the front facing up, and the non-flap side against the paper guide. I realize that this is no big deal, but it was kindof a hassle to get right, and the arc is pretty small. Strange things happen with rotated text, and it takes some getting used to. Just remember, if a text line wraps when it isn't supposed to, then the rotated fram is not wide enough. Pull out either the left or right hand side 'grabber' and readjust the frames position. You generally will not have to fiddle with the frames verticle size. I found an odd quirk making this document. To make the ATTN: line really stand out, I wanted to place a black bar along the edge of the envelope, and print white letters on it. I couldn't seem to get the raster (black) frame behind the rotated text frame. I have never had this problem with normal text frames. I hope you find this to be of some small use. It is much faster than doing your envelopes in Landscape format (which I used to do.)
