If you're not sure of the device number, try 7 first and if that doesn't work, try 5. You can also find out the number by opening the SLMC804 controller and checking the DIP switches (check your SLM manual for details). > The 68030 options are enabled when a 68030 CPU is in use (i.e. a TT or 68030 SST). Instruction and data caches speed up all operations. Burst mode speeds up access to FastRAM. Some 68030 boards may not support burst mode. For maximum speed, turn all three options on. Note: you may encounter a few programs that don't work properly with them all on. > To auto-launch Spectre, put LAUNCH.PRG in your AUTO folder along with a copy of your SPECTRE.CNF file. Hold the shift key until you see the message that auto-launching was aborted. > To format a hard disk partition, select 'Format...' from the 'Hard Disk' menu. If you selected a hard disk partition to boot from, the Mac operating system will load the System and Finder from that partition. If you did not select a hard disk partition, you may see a disk with a flashing question mark. At this time, press the function key for the drive you want to boot from. > System and Finder should be installed from the original Apple disks using the Installer application which is included with the System and Finder. This means that the first time you boot into Mac mode, you'll have to boot off of an original floppy (or copy). Once this is done, you can install (using Installer) the System and Finder onto a hard disk partition, if desired. > Sources of Macintosh information: "Macintosh System Software User's Guide" (included with System software) "The Macintosh Book" by Cary Lu "The Macintosh Bible" by Aker & Naiman The Mac RoundTable on GEnie The Mac Forum on CompuServe > Be sure to write us for information about: MegaTalk - adds Mac serial ports and SCSI port to Atari Mega.
