The program disk contains approximately 9000 sets of geographic coordinates which outline the main land masses and islands on Earth. You can design high resolution maps on your video screen and print them on a graphics printer. You can use these maps for games and simulations, for tracking satellites, for pointing amateur radio antennae, for overlays for satellite weather maps and for teaching geography and cartography. Point to a location on the screen and the latitude and longitude or distance and bearing are displayed on the screen. You can draw the earth as you would see it from any distance above your home town. The program displays dialog boxes that prompt you for the input data for each map. It takes only a couple of minutes to generate a high resolution perspective projection map. It takes much less time to draw a simple cylindrical projection. After the computer generates a map, you can color it, draw on it, and fill it with a variety of patterns. You can also add text and legends. You can save your maps on data disks and retrieve them later in a few seconds. ---------------------------------------------- The programs are written in the C computer language and the source code is available from the authors for programmers who wish to adapt them for special applications. For example, you might want to generate map projections that are not included in the Maps and Legends program. You might also modify a program to call it as a subroutine to overlay satellite ground tracks or fields of view. Page 2
