Maps and Legends 4 HINTS AND SUGGESTIONS (a) Select a background color before you generate a map. Try a yellow map on a black background. First erase the screen. Then use Fill with a solid black color. Finally select pen and a yellow color before selecting the projection. (b) Draw a map with the pen size set to medium or broad. (c) Resize the window making it 1/4 or 1/2 the size of the screen. Then draw a new map. You will get a miniature map properly scaled to the smaller window size. By using the scroll bars on the right and lower window borders you can select open areas of the window to draw more miniature maps. Finally resize the window to full size and all of you miniature maps will be displayed together. Be sure to cancel erase between each new map. Otherwise only the last one drawn will remain. (d) Use the graphics program Degas from Batteries Included to print your maps. When a map is loaded into Degas, the menu bar and window from Maps and Legends do not appear on the picture. You can also use these programs to add cloud patterns, political boundaries and weather symbols to your maps. Degas can load all three screen resolution maps. (e) Maps and Legends is a very large program. If you have trouble running it on a 520 ST try removing or renaming some of the desk accessories (particluarly DESK2.ACC) from your boot disk to make a little more room for the program. (f) The UNDO key erases the last fill or draw but only if you do NOT move the cursor outside the drawing area or activate any of the pull-down menus. Page 12
