12/26/89 This FB-01 Profile is intended for version 1.10 or later of X-or. Automatic multi-timbral features: a)single voices are loaded when a config patch is transmitted or edited (if the single voice is from the Internal Bank, and the Internal Bank is open). Otherwise, if switcher is enabled for the instrument, it will get the single voice from the instrument. If all fails, the single voice is marked as out of sync (question mark). b)single voice channels are updated when a config patch is trans- mitted or edited. If no notes are assigned to a single patch, it will be marked "off". c)When a single voice is either loaded from, or stored to the Internal Bank with Bank Update on, the config patch is automa- tically edited if necessary to reflect the patch's location. This edit is not sent to the FB-01, so if you subsequently get the cfig patch from the FB-01, you will undo it. CAUTION: Do not use MIDI channels in the FB-01 configuration which may conflict with the channel of your programmable switcher, unless your switcher blocks program changes which cause it to switch (or can be programmed to block such program changes). If there is a conflict, the FB-01 voice edit area will be out of sync with the computer. Memory Protect is turned off when the program is booted. The Profile uses Caged Artist Four-op Deluxe FB-01 bank file format, which is all 8-bit data (not nybblized), no headers or sumchecks, with the two voice banks followed by the config. bank. 3/5/90 Update: On Config's Get Patch, the same routine is done as with Send Patch; the receive channel and on/off status of all instruments is set, and the Instrument Voice data is either copied from Internal Bank or received from the FB-01 (but only if you're working with a switcher, since it uses the same routine as Send Patch - see item (a) above). There may have been a bug which somehow resulted in an out-of-range value for Voice Select in the Config., which would result in a "Dump Error" message when the Config. is sent. We MAY have fixed this bug - we did fix a minor error that could have been related, but we could never repeat the bug! If anyone experiences problems, contact me directly via Dr.T's BBS (see version 1.1 docs). Suggestions are also welcome. -Bob Melvin
