README.TXT for TurboJet: Release 2.00 - 8/22/90
-----------------------------------------------
This file includes last minute changes and additions which could
not be incorporated in the printed manual. BE SURE TO READ THIS ENTIRE
FILE AS IT MAY CONTAIN INFORMATION CRUCIAL TO THE PROPER OPERATION OF
THE PROGRAM.

Using TurboJet
--------------
TurboJet Version 2.0 is designed only for use with Neocept's
Word Up word processor (version 3.0 or later). Use with other programs
may be possible, but is no longer supported.

Installing TurboJet With Word Up v3.0
-------------------------------------
To install TurboJet with Word Up, make a set of backup disks as
described in the main TurboJet manual. Now run INSTALL.PRG from your
backup copy of TurboJet disk 1. This is a special version of the
installation program included with Word Up, and should be used instead of
the version on the original Word Up disks.

The installation program will tell you when you need to change disks
and will make a set of working disks combining Word Up and TurboJet. When
this is done, you can use Word Up as described in the Word Up manual.

TurboJet Draft Mode
-------------------
When using the draft print mode of TurboJet, it is possible for
thin lines to disappear. Also, some fill patterns, such as grey
scales, will sometimes appear as white. Other fill patterns may be appear
much different as well. This is normal, and should not be a cause for
alarm. When printing in final mode, these things should look correct.

Legal-Size Paper & The LaserJet
-------------------------------
You must always use a paper tray that is at least as large as your
page size, even if you are manually feeding the paper. For any page
size, if the paper tray is smaller than the page size, the bottom of
the page will be cut off by the printer, since it thinks the paper is
not large enough. For example, to use Legal-Size paper, you must have
a Legal-size paper tray installed in your printer.

Legal-Size Paper & The DeskJet
------------------------------
Since the DeskJet does not use different trays for different sizes
of paper, you must set the printer's function switches to indicate the
proper size of paper. Otherwise, the printout may be cut off by the
printer because it thinks the paper is not large enough. For
letter-size or smaller paper, switches A5 & A6 should be DOWN. For
larger than letter-size paper (11 inches long), switch A5 is UP, and
switch A6 is DOWN.

Top & Bottom Margins
--------------------
The LaserJet and DeskJet printers are not able to print from the very
top of the paper to the very bottom. When using TurboJet with Word Up, you
may wish to adjust your page length to prevent the possibility of text
being cut off at the bottom of the page. Set your page length to the
amount of usable area, as mentioned below.

The DeskJet starts printing about 0.40" from the top of the page,
and stops printing at about 0.40" from the bottom of the page. This gives
you about 10.20" of usable area on 11" paper, or about 13.20" on 14" paper.
Please note that the actual amount of usable area may vary from printer to
printer.

The LaserJet starts printing about 0.25" from the top of the page,
and stops printing at about 0.25" from the bottom of the page. This gives
you about 10.50" of usable area on 11" paper, or about 13.50" on 14" paper.
Please note that the actual amount of usable area may vary from printer to
printer.

If you set your page length too high, the DeskJet may end up loading
a second sheet of paper to print the bottom of the page. The LaserJet will
simply cut off the bottom of the page. At this point, you should adjust
your page length.

Please remember to take into account the unusable area of the page
when setting your margins. For example, if you really want a 0.50" top
margin, it may be necessary to set Word Up's top margin to 0.25", if
the printer always skips the first 0.25" of the page (this is where
Word Up starts counting from).
