Mar 8, 1989 SuperCharged Easy-Draw Release 2.3 Notes REMEMBER THAT 1MB IS RECOMMENDED TO RUN THIS SUPERCHARGED VERSION OF EASY-DRAW AND THE CONVERTER! Both of the Easy-Draw disks in this package are double- sided disks. At the time of this release the Master Disk has approximately 130k free. Depending on your system configuration, you may want to add or delete files from this disk. GEMSYS FOLDERS: (Fonts contained) Remember that the GEMSYS folder on the master disk currently has ALL three of the screen fonts and 9-pin fonts, whereas the GEMSYS folder on the second disk only has the printer fonts. If you want to add additional fonts, and accessories to the master disk, then at some point you will probably need to delete the fonts from the GEMSYS folder for the monitor that you do not use. NOTES FOR PEOPLE WITH ONE DOUBLE-SIDED DRIVE: The GEMSYS folder on the second disk only contains the fonts for 9-pin printers. If you want to display a GEM file to the screen while in OUTPRINT, you will need to add all the monitor fonts for the particular monitor that you own. To see which fonts need to be added, you can print-out the ASSIGN.SYS file from the master disk which contains the names of the required fonts. OUTPRINT ENHANCEMENTS: (Device...) The file DEFAULT.REM (which must be in the same directory as OUTPRINT.PRG) contains the five lines of comments under Remarks. But even more importantly, it has the default device ID # and printer page size. By changing the current device number and then "saving" the default settings you could set your default to be any printer between 21-29. You can stop the print-out on your printer by pressing (Control and X) at the same time during processing. If you have several pages on your Outprint list, your list will be interrupted. You may need to form-feed the page before printing your next page. The driver options that we have listed in the ASSIGN.SYS on the master disk include: 21.... 9-pin FX-80 compatibles 23.... 24-pin LQ-800 compatibles 25.... 150dpi Laser (HP Series II) 27.... 300dpi Laser " " 29.... 300dpi Atari Laser OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL PRINTER DRIVERS: Registered owners of 24-pin and HP laser drivers will receive notice of the enhanced drivers for those devices which include the new fonts and ability to work with OUTPRINT. FX80 COMPATIBLES (15 INCH) WIDE CARRIAGE MODEL Owners: When you want to print a page larger than 8.5 x 11", using a wide carriage printer, all you need to do is change the paper size setting in OUTPRINT thru the OPTIONS/DEVICE dialog box. An example is: using the landscape 11x17" page size in Easy-Draw, you can print it out in one piece thru OUTPRINT, by selecting the 11x17" paper setting in the above dialog box. GEMINI 10X Owners: On the second disk, there is a program called "MOD10X.PRG". This program is used to modify the standard FX80 9-pin driver to remove the small white horizontal lines. To modify your driver: (On a Back-up Disk) 1. Copy MOD10X.PRG and FX80.SYS (Found in the GEMSYS folder) to the root level of a floppy disk in drive A:. 2. Double-click on MOD10X.PRG on drive A: to run the program. Select "Other" in the dialog box. (Note: to return the driver back to standard FX80 mode at a later date, follow the same directions except choose FX80.) 3. Then copy FX80.SYS back into the GEMSYS folder, of the floppy which will be in A: when you print. ATARI LASER PRINTER: This package is completely compatible with the Atari laser printer! So as soon as it is available you can simply load the GDOS driver and fonts that comes with the laser printer into your GEMSYS folder. Change your default device number to 29, from OUTPRINT and you are off and running! LOADING older .GEM FILES FROM EASY-DRAW 2.X: Line spacing.... Text line spacing has changed to a much closer value, but to see the change you must select the object and reset the point size. You will then probably need to resize the text block as discussed on page 23 of the addendum. Line Widths.... All the line widths have been reduced slightly so that the gap between the first and second is closer. Nine pin printers will still have a noticable width change between the first and second widths, however laser output will now have a smoother gradation of widths. Remember that just as with text, you will need to select any lines that are wider than the top single line thickness and reset their width setting. SNAPSHOT ACCESSORY V:1.10 ENHANCEMENT: These disks contain a new version of the Migraph Snapshot utility. You can now use the Snapshot feature without select- ing the accessory from the Desk drop-down menu. This enables you to get screen captures during some applications which do not have a GEM menu bar. To activate the new Snapshot utility by the keyboard: Hold down the key, and then quickly press the key once. Note: Some program must have been run before this option is available. In orther words, you can not turn on your system, and then immediatly try to activate the Snapshot utility through the keyboard. TYPING FOREIGN AND SPECIAL CHARACTERS: Now when you are editing text, by pressing the key, you will be able to use the arrow keys to select any character withen the full ASCII range. Then press the key to select that character. You then will be back in edit text mode. --------------------- Thanks again for choosing a Migraph product, we know that you'll enjoy using the new Page Layout capabilities in this package for all sorts of projects.
