DIRECTOR (c) 1989 Gerhard Lengeling Universal MIDI Routing Accessory for C-LAB ExPORT and UNITOR ********************************************************** The "DIRECTOR" accessory is free-of-charge. You are allowed to copy, use and pass it on under the following conditions: 1. You accept our copyright and the following paragraphs. 2. DIRECTOR must be copied completely together with the accompanying documentation files. Each copy must bear a visible copyright notice. 3. DIRECTOR and documentation may not be changed in any way. 4. Passing on must also be free-of-charge except for the reimbursement of disk costs. ********************************************************** What is "DIRECTOR"? DIRECTOR allows the diversion of MIDI data to outputs of the C-LAB "ExPORT" and "UNITOR" hardware, provided the MIDI programs work in accordance with the Atari operating systen standard. The original MIDI output is identified as letter "A", the "ExPORT" and "UNITOR" outputs are identified as letters "B", "C", "D", "E", and "F". DIRECTOR can be called any time as an accessory in any GEM program which has a menu bar. It uses very little memory. DIRECTOR is the lowest level (level 1) of the C-LAB SOFT LINK system. Your C-LAB dealer will give you more information about the possibilities SOFT LINK provides in combination with CREATOR and NOTATOR (levels 2 and 3). All DIRECTOR functions are built into CREATOR and NOTATOR SL so simultaneous use is unnecessary and wastes memory. *********************************************************** How do I start an accessory for the Atari operating system? Copy the DIRECTOR.ACC & DIRECTOR.RSC files to your MIDI editor program etc: this is now the "host" program. If you use a hard disk, you must copy the .ACC and .RSC files to partition C. Now switch off and start the computer again. Accessories are not started with a double-click as usual, but are loaded automatically into memory when you switch on your computer with the "host" program disk in the drive (you are probably familiar with the "control panel" accessory, which comes with your computer). Once the "host" program has loaded, DIRECTOR can, like any accessory, be called any time from the desktop or menu bar (providing the program has one). Click "MIDI Director" in the leftmost menu (called "Desk" or the Atari logo). ************************************************************* If you experience incompatibility, your software's manufacturer (or better, programmer) needs the following information: ---------------------------------------------------------- All MIDI output should be conducted with with the standard MIDI routines of the Atari's operating system: Bconout (3,midi_byte); /* BIOS 3 */ or Midiws (count,pointer_to_data); /* XBIOS 12 */ ----------------------------------------------------------
