********************************** * * * MultiDesk Release Notes * * Version 3.3 * * Release date: October 8, 1991 * * * ********************************** Nested Folders in the MDX Directory ----------------------------------- Version 3.3 of MultiDesk adds the ability to put nonresident DAs in their own folders inside the MDX Directory, to keep things better organized. To do this, the name of the folder must match the name of the accessory, minus the extension. For example, if you wish to put GRAMSLAM.ACC in its own folder, the folder must be named simply GRAMSLAM, with no extension. If a nonresident DA has an accompanying resource (.RSC) file, it should be placed in the same nested folder with the DA. Also included with this update is a new version of MDXTITLE.PRG, which searches for nonresident DAs that are in nested folders. Bug Fixes in Version 3.3 ------------------------ This version of MultiDesk Deluxe has several bug fixes. If you had problems with any desk accessories or applications with an earlier version of MultiDesk, please try them again; chances are they'll work fine now. This version is known to fix problems with STalker, STeno, the HyperEdit DA for Hyperlink, Edison, EYECON, and others. Much Greater Compatibility with Neodesk --------------------------------------- MultiDesk Deluxe 3.3 now also features greatly enhanced compatibility with Neodesk 3.02 from Gribnif Software. A "message caching" system has been added that virtually eliminates problems associated with keeping the "Neodesk accessories" inside MultiDesk. Please note, however, that Neodesk accessories should always be loaded into MultiDesk as resident DAs; some of them get very unhappy if they're used as MDXs. Side 2 Folder ------------- For your convenience we've provided the latest versions of two shareware programs by Charles F. Johnson. The Little Green Selector (LGSELECT.PRG) and PinHead (PINHED18.PRG) are contained in the folder named SIDE_2 on your master disk, along with their respective documentation files which you may 'Show' or 'Print'. These programs are shareware products from Little Green Footballs Software (included with permission), and the purchase price of this package does not include them. If you try these programs and decide to keep them, you are expected to send a shareware payment to Charles at the address listed in the documentation. Thank you. NOTE: The SIDE_2 folder is only accessible by double-sided floppy drives. If you've only got a single-sided drive, you'll need to get access to a double-sided drive to copy the files onto another single-sided disk, or else call us and we'll arrange for you to get the programs some other way. Desk Accessories ---------------- Also on the disk is a folder called ACCS. This folder contains several useful and/or fun desk accessories. The DAs called WHATIS and CAL are by Bill Aycock, and are shareware; see the documentation included with them for more information. The DA called APROCALC is also shareware, by John Brochu; the documentation is included in the program itself and can be viewed by clicking its 'INFO' button. These shareware DAs are included by permission of the authors. If you like them and use them, please be sure to send your shareware payments to the authors! CodeHead Software Update Policy ------------------------------- At CodeHead, we update all of our software frequently; but due to postal expenses we are not able to notify our users regularly. The easiest way to find out the latest version number of any CodeHead Software product is to call us at the number below, or to contact us on GEnie, Compuserve, or Delphi. Update prices vary, depending on several factors such as whether a new manual is included. Again, it's probably best to contact us at the address/phone number listed below, before sending disks or money. CodeHead Software P.O. If you have a legitimate copy of our software, please accept our sincere thanks for purchasing our product, and don't bother reading the next paragraph. If you're reading this file from an illegal copy of our software (you know if you are), you might want to give some thought to the consequences of your actions. We will not continue to produce software for the ST if we can't make a living at it. If you steal a copy of any of our programs (by using it without buying it, or allowing others to use it without buying it), besides breaking a federal law, you're also quite literally stealing the food right out of our families' mouths. Think about it.
